    Here is an interesting (to me) PoV: Individuals should move across entire industries during their career. Nothing they "learn" in college or universities are much useful unless the job is disciplined like a surgeon or a marine biologist - you cannot easily put your hands on cadavers or sea mammals.

    I have over a decade until i retire, but I have been training and preparing for it for the last decade.

    Life is a process.

    "Learn to code" is the wrong advice when you want to avoid DEI, "learn plumbing" would be better.

    I maintain two nodes - one Mastodon and a Hubzilla - and I do not have "users". Instead I am ready to show anyone to host their own.

    The Fediverse supposed to be this expert pool of owner-operators who do not write Community Rules and install GDPR because there is no need for them.

    For everything else there is the rest of the internet with practically dozens of all sorts of forums, networks.

    The Fedi shall be owner-operated. The only reason I am posting this from someone else's node is because mines are dedicated to taxation in Kane county, and I do not pollute that, I do not tolerate anyone to pollute them.

    I could never figure out a good use for Nextcloud, not even with the Office install. Maybe if it was federated I would reinstall it and spend some time with it, and get rid of my google office subscription.

    But even I cannot pull that trigger, not yet. I use Gmail from day one practically, I got my account in 1995. Same with Google Office, I switched to a pro subscription as soon as it was available.

    I use Office365 for years because of my job requires it, but they do not compare Google is superior.

    I am looking at Nextcloud nearly every week, wishing I could switch.

    I would not say the search engines are useless. I would say their new purpose is to evidence the deception.

    The same thing is going to happen everywhere and to everyone where there are "good muslisms".

    One day the "bad muslims" going to show up at the doors of the "good muslims", and they will kill the "good muslims" unless they turn into "bad muslims".

    This is Islam.

    Nobody was born a muslim. All you need to do is make a decision, and turn your back to it. It takes a second or less.

    I HATE ISLAM. I do not hate muslims, because they can make that decision any time.

    My gf likes to watch cop videos, and a lot of them are DUI arrests. A lot of the DUIs are by females, a lot of them are elected officials, and they all believe their social status grants them exemptions.

    Yet another female running for office is not a good thing. All due respect for the few exception but a law degree and a political office is a female trademark - and we will be taking a look at that soon, we have no choice. Tracy Abrams and her high-powered sister are a prime example of that, and here in Illinois we have Kim Foxx - the same and only one who's "work" includes shielding Jussie Smollet.

    I could rant on and on about this, but I will make one more observation: look at any rally photo of HS students protesting for Hamas, how many females do you see? Those are future lawyers and jurnos bringing hard-core politics into every civic institution there is today.

    There is not a single city simulator that can measure up to EA4 in two decades. I refuse to accept any explanation for that. ANY explanation.

    It is SimCity 4 Rush Hour, by EA Games. EA games has no other worthy title which is not a shame, its suspicious.

    I played Doom on a 386dx in 1994, after "id" released the source and it was ported to X.

    It was awesome, the Slackware install was playing it like a champ on crappy Compaq hardware.

    SimCity 4 is currently the pinnacle of city building games, nothing on the console online or in your imagination can surpass it. The MODs are still functional and awesome.

    I play AD0 these days, not a city building genre but still beats the console or online.

    For a short time there was a Shareware Store next to Cub Foods I used to do my weekly groceries, in Arlington Heights IL. One day I walked in there to see if I could upgrade the 4 MB RAM for my 486DX2 AutoCAD workstation. Then I saw they had 5.25 floppies with Slackware on it. I bought them, and I installed them to the Compaq.

    Shortly after I subscribed to Walnut Creek CD-ROM newsgroups archives, I ditched my Visual Basic 1.0 MS-DOS install and converted it all to Slackware, TCL-TK, and other GUI programming. I kept my Borland Turbo C and Assembler workstations.

    I do not play games anymore, my games of Tropico, Railroad Tycoon and Civ3 are from a bygone era. I miss them sometimes, but that's all.

    These days I build GNU/Debian infra and Fediverse nodes. Far more rewarding than playing games, and they cost less.

    Content-based addressing is anything but a false-sense of security.

    Granted, encryption strength has to keep up but automating re-encryption on the IPFS with a stronger cipher has no practical drawbacks.

    Consequently, IPFS is the first concept of something still has the capacity to evolve.
