This sort of tripe just shows us how much power the monarchy still has over the psyches of some Australians.
I'm quite sure Chaz 3 understands perfectly the symbolic nature of Thorpe's action, and of his position as Australia's head of state.
( He's not my king either, darl.)

@raymondpert There goes your "freedom of speech", MAGAs.
@Gustodon @georgepenney One of Australia's supermarket giants, Woolworths, is trialling a system where a scanner is actually fixed to your trolley. ๐ You have to collect the scanner first, using the company's RFID card.
I'm sure we'll all be rushing to do that.
@ChanceyFleet Thank you. It's worth it to read your sweet appreciation post. ๐
There are folks now who still assume old people aren't familiar with computers.
"Do you use the internet?" they inquire.
"Only since the 1980s."

You power your device by cycling!
I need one of these set ups. The exercise would be brilliant.
@jeffowski Maybe apply that in the way you treat your followers?
@jeffowski @forteller Are you trying to make me feel bad? Why?
@forteller @jeffowski Maybe try searching actual works by Aristotle?
It's 40ยฐC and I've brought Lucy inside because she's broody and I didn't want her sitting in a roasting hot nest.
She thinks she's been abducted by aliens.

@thomasfuchs Amusing that some younger peeps will argue with you about something that you experienced first hand
So it turns out the best way to stop boiling the milk over is to put my hearing aids on because there's actually a sound that gets louder as the milk gets hotter.
Thinking about all the fidget spinners that are in landfill now, along with Rubick cubes and tamagochis.
There should be some kind of national repository for playthings that go in and out of fashion. Instead of binning your yoyos and hula hoops, they go in the repository and are released again when enthusiasm for them rises once more.
What would you like to go into the repository? I'm thinking of plastic poppit beads I had in the 1950s.
(I am aware that these things remain on the market. I'm talking about crazes.)
@GottaLaff Every now and then you come across a person of integrity.
@drahardja I take a similar position re Australia's Indigenous population.
Just give them the money!
Whatever we spend on services and infrastructure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, divide the amount by the number of individuals and send them each a cheque.
Most of them will pool it and set up services and build infrastructure that they need and want, and works for them.
