if you let people choose their pronouns from a list, it’s also important to let people change the order those pronouns are displayed

as usual, my end of year music stats require a bit of finesse to get at my real listening habits

if you wait till december when your friends are gleefully sharing all the beautiful music they listened to all year, and decide *now* is the moment to be shitty about spotify, you aren’t being radical or progressive or whatever. you’re being a thief of joy and, more relevant, *you are harming artists, not helping them.*

talking about music and musicians is awesome! a lot of folks i never hear a peep about music from all year, until their yearly wrap-up shows up and suddenly they want to share all the great music they spent the year listening to!

as a musician, it fucking *hurts* to see folks get all morally self-righteous about shutting down these discussions because “they’re an ad for spotify”. PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT SPOTIFY but they might not know the indie artist sitting at 12 on their friends’ list.

the worst thing you can do for musicians—especially indie musicians—is to make people feel bad for talking about music.

word-of-mouth is all we fucking have, people.

find literally *any* other context to complain about streaming services.

- parallel watching
- take it seriously! in the moment it can feel like a frivolous thing but if it’s a common quality-partner-time activity then it really can sting when a partner watches something you were looking forward to without you
- find stuff your other partners don’t care to watch
- mistakes will still happen

- coming out as trans typically involves a buttload of bureaucratic nonsense designed to test the limits of executive functioning
