the biggest inaccuracy with autistic representation in tv/movies isn’t the portrayal of autism as a superpower, or even the “flat affect and asshole to everyone around them” stereotype.

it’s that autistic characters are always portrayed as having a cohort of fiercely loyal, endlessly supportive neurotypical friends.

but techno and house was developed by Black men, many of them queer, playing in detroit and chicago, frequently in gay clubs. do not erase that—especially during PRIDE MONTH.

there’s this weird internet-era revisionist approach to music history where people will unearth some old obscure recording that kinda sorta superficially resembles a music genre that didn’t emerge until years later. and someone on reddit or youtube will present it as “proof” that this music style was invented by this other person, and completely ignore that there is absolutely no evidence it influenced the development of the genre in any way b/c nobody actually heard it till now.
