@cks can you at least summarize the blog entry as a toot in response to this inquiry? if you don't actually get around to writing said blog entry? I never used a lisp-machine, but i've only ever heard good things about them…

@kims Michael Crichton was an asshole; but he coined the term Gell-Mann Amnesia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Crichton#Gell-Mann_amnesia_effect) in 2002, which should have meant the immediate end of the NYT as a going concern 😛

      Michael Crichton
John Michael Crichton (; October 23, 1942 – November 4, 2008) was an American author, screenwriter, and filmmaker. His books have sold over 200 million copies worldwide, and over a dozen have been adapted into films. His literary works heavily feature technology and are usually within the science fiction, techno-thriller, and medical fiction genres. Crichton's novels often explore human technological advancement and attempted dominance over nature, both with frequently catastrophic results; many of his works are cautionary tales, especially regarding themes of biotechnology. Several of his stories center on themes of genetic modification, hybridization, paleontology and/or zoology. Many feature medical or scientific underpinnings, reflective of his own medical training and scientific background. Crichton received an M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1969 but did not practice medicine, choosing to focus on his writing instead. Initially writing under a pseudonym, he eventually published 25 novels in his lifetime, including: The Andromeda Strain (1969), The Terminal Man (1972), The Great Train Robbery...

@hellomiakoda if you grep for your username in /etc/passwd, what's the last field show? it should be a shell

@cadusilva @DanielaAbade @ErikUden is Hostinger an acceptable alternative to hetzner? or are you specifically moving away from them as well, to Netcup? (I also have the additional complication of being US-Based [hetzner now has 1 or 2 datacenters Stateside {though who knows for how long, at this point, under this administration 😛}])

@DanielaAbade @ErikUden where'd you end up, instead? if this is how Hetzner operates, I should look into switching providers

@karen 2, improving over 1 old Asus. One's now in the basement, providing better coverage on that side of the house; the other is next to the Asus (which is still doing 2.4GHz WiFi [hopefully without hurt feelings 😛])
Not sure if this is of any interest, but I'm a die-hard IPv6 proponent, and the Ones are working seamlessly with it, out of the box. Having the USB TTY access in the front also made initial setup secure and painless (though of course I say that as someone who's been running Linux on his personal machines for 25 years, so take with some salt 😜)
