@thomasfuchs I liked windows back in the day when they had chonky handles to click on. I miss those handles and a scroll bar that I can actually see.

@hellomiakoda I've been at this a while (3 of my 4 kids are teens now). They aren't fooling me, and most of the stuff they tried were things I did when I was young.

@hellomiakoda I used to go this sort of route with my kids. Eventually, I gave up and just locked the PlayStation in my room. Along with other devices.

@saramg @Tylae This sounds a lot like my wife. She was diagnosed about two years ago. They tend to miss it in kids that aren't bouncing off the walls, which was her and one of our kids (two of our kids have it).

My son actually exhibited symptoms usually found in girls (inattentive style). So his teachers just thought he was being lazy. It wasn't until he was talking to a therapist that we learned he had ADHD, and my wife found out she had it at the same time because the therapist didn't realize she didn't know she had it.

Then we spent a year and a half fighting doctors and schools about the matter.

A bit ago I learned that Minneapolis has an electronics thrift store. I went there today, tripped, and accidentally bought a tower server for $200. 12 cores, 128GB of RAM, and 3 4TB drives.

So now I have a TrueNAS server humming in the basement.

As a single person, there's not much I can do on a national scale.

But as a new member of a community, I can get involved to try and make people's lives better locally. Does anyone in the Twin Cities know of some non-profits that help the more vulnerable citizens? (LGBTQ+, immigrants, homeless, etc.)
