It's that time in move where I audit the contents of my storage collection, and wipe/destroy anything small. Today, I think I shall keep nothing below 64GB.

So I got a formal diagnosis (two, actually) and an Rx, and started taking it four days ago (at a lowish, introductory dose).

I'll quote:

"Wait. I can just... remember things?"

"I'm not an unlovable piece of shit?"

"I can just... Do stuff without building a wall of awful?"

"It's NOT my fault my dad was an abusive drunk?"

"I don't have to use food to fill the void in my heart?"

"I can be around large groups of people sober?"

I've been pretty sure I had ADHD for decades, but I always took it as "So what? Knowing you're broken doesn't do shit." Only treatment I ever saw that wasn't therapy was my little brother taking Ritalin and he turned into a zombie.

So I did a LOT of therapy, and it never helped.

Then people I know (and we chaos goblins do congregate, especially in tech), started taking Lisdexamfetamine (Elvanse/Vyvance) and I saw it change their gods damned world.

@bryanredeagle @Tylae The thing about my brother getting the dx and not me is that I can see really clearly in hindsight that the goal wasn't helping him. The goal was getting him to STFU and sit still. (btw, have I mentioned my parents were monsters?)

Also, turns out the manifested symptoms are really different in boys vs girls, so I can't even be particularly surprised that nobody saw it.

Ran into this in my reading. You kinda don't know what you don't know, until someone you love shows you. Two of my girlfriends latched onto it when their other girlfriend got herself sorted, and that pushed both their wife, and me into figuring shit out. One big poly cascade of mental health. (Possibly needs a graph to cover properly.)

@dalias I don't know Teslas, but my Volvos will knly update if the car is turned off *and locked*.

@dalias Well quite. *I* don't have automatic OTAs enabled, but I do apply them semi-regularly. But like... for the non-technically inclined, the neurotypical borings of the world. Happy to let them risk exposure.
