    @realcaseyrollins @icedquinn ESPN+ is mostly them streaming broadcasts produced by other entities. Their NHL games are just the local broadcasts, not even with an ESPN wrapper. Their college football selection is all G5s and FCS teams, again, many of them produced by campus broadcasting departments. When you can pay for ESPN+ and get even C-level content, let alone top-tier, I'll believe it.

    @icedquinn @realcaseyrollins Linear TV sports broadcasts are still the cream of the crop and will be for the foreseeable future. I have an antenna just for sports and the occasional weather broadcast. Cable's a ripoff and most games on cable worth watching have Vietnamese kids offering pirated simulcasts on Youtube.

    @sun @georgia @ooignignoktoo An enlightening moment was when I realized Ted Stevens and his weird "series of tubes" rant wasn't him being painfully ignorant of technology, but him trying to dumb the concept of bandwidth and it being a finite resource down so octogenarians that still don't understand why people stopped sending telegrams can understand it

    @sun @thatbrickster That area's been getting flooded with people from the NY/NJ metroplex and prices have been skyrocketing, and the covid real estate boom didn't help much either. I'm sure that's what happened, flippers not even taking care of the bare minimum of making it hurricane-ready but put all of their attention into making sure the kitchen and living room were HGTV-friendly.

    @sun @AnungIkwe Yeah, I don't think you see a rowdy protest leading to pic related when politicians feel like they might be at risk as a consequence of their decisions. Supposedly what ended a lot of the antifa rioting in the Northwest was that they decided to start marching on mayors' homes, so they got rolled up like a rug.

    @sun @AnungIkwe Considering the entire job is basically "America's Best Bullshit Artist" we shouldn't be shocked a bunch of sociopaths whose mantra is "fake it until you make it" have no idea what they're talking about. Maybe Tim just thinks it's a packed court or a stroke of the pen away from being illegal. Maybe he's just saying it to get people that want it to be illegal on board. I don't know, either way it's a horrible thing to leave the mouth of someone that's about to be one of the most powerful people on the planet.

    @AnungIkwe There's a part of me that thinks that trying to do something like that would activate Americans in a way that no one really wants (except maybe Russia and China) and another part of me that thinks the DNC could bank on Americans being too complacent to stand up to this, and it being an opportunity to jail "deplorables," and it could turn extradition into some sort of Five Eyes for political imprisonments where one country could pass a law that's illegal in another and they just use selective prosecution and extradition to round up dissenters.
