This war will end within five minutes after the confirmed death of Vladimir Putin - and not one minute before.
Ukraine's troops will never serve under a Russian, not after Bucha. No, sir.

My business partner, before his aneurysm took him out, would say, "First a toy then a tool then a weapon"
The feckless West is about to find itself with half o' this & none o' that, when those feral NORKies enter the fight. Until NATO puts up air cover worth a damn and provides long distance munitions worth more than a bucket of warm piss, by New Year's Day, the Russians will be at the gates of Kiev.
I, in my turn, invite you to consider the nature of geopolitics and commerce. For all these milquetoast embargoes we have placed upon Russia, their economy is firing on all cylinders. Those embargoes are a pitiful sop: as with Iran (and with their connivance may I add), Russia has worked around them al, especially oil - and the West has done nothing.
Yes Elmo is not supposed to sell to Russia - he's not. Those Starlink units were shipped through Dubai and sold along via proxies
Elmo's one smart move was tro bring in Gwynne Shotwell to run SpaceX. She, in her turn, built Elmo a little Potemkin Village to manage, a treehouse out in the back where he can stomp around and act like he's in charge.
Stop worrying about those NSA payloads, Elmo's nowhere near them.
... yeah, which is why I didn't wish to make a big deal of it.
Okay, it seems I must be plain: I am speaking of Tibet.
My grandparents were missionaries in Yunnafu area, up the Salween River. My mother's first languages were Lisu and putonghua. Several of their children were born in Burma. Loing story: most of my mother's friends died in Japanese concentration camps.
I believe culture is bound up in language, its words and phrases worth preserving in living people, not just books.
Unity is a worthy goal, but so, too, is diversity. These languages need saving.
I'm sorta concerned about what Mandarin is doing to China's other languages and cultures, to say nothing of You-know-where-that-starts-with-T.
This poor wretch needs to be introduced to a few actual factual nerd women. They are abundant. I married one.
Fact: the first thing I bought for my g/f (now wife) was a custom built development box running Fedora.
There was that bit about subscribers.
Sam Harris needs some hermeneutical training. His unhappy snarling will gain no converts.
I know, it's just another silly meme. But it's cute:
A good education is sorta like high altitude mountain climbing: the higher you get, the horizon seems to get farther and father away.
I felt a lot dumber on graduation day than I did when I was admitted....
When I was a little guy, my parents taught me to read very early. My first year of school was second grade. I was given a tour of the school library, an astonishing sight - so many books!
The librarian told me something I never forgot: "You don't need to know everything - just ask a librarian and they'll help you find what you want to know."
I'm horribly depressed about privacy.
James Jesus Angleton, the CIA's first counterintelligence officers, said
"If you want to hide a leaf ,there's no better place than the floor of a forest."
The USA has never done a proper job of securing its own data about me. The government leaks like a sieve. Private industry is even worse: remember Scott McNealy at Sun Micro saying "There is no privacy - get over it."
The only things which are highly classified are fuckups anyway.
I'd say keep it simple with rsync

Danke sehr. Amerikaner sind so verdammt provinziell.
Yeah.... it sure would be nice if I could do a bank transfer to Germany and pay the consultant working on a little projec. t for me.
As it is, the bank people look at me like an pig startled by an alarm clock.
Hieratic has a Unicode block. Not demotic.
