@feditips Can you stop using your huge platform to spread crazy misinformation? Like, nothing like this has ever been even close to substantiated, and these sorts of bull---- rumors are regularly scaring newer users who aren't versed in the latest fedi dramas enough to know the authors are making it up.

ocdtrekkie (ocdtrekkie@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 04-Jul-2023 14:51:56 JST ocdtrekkie @Jain @supernovae The honest truth is we are really deep into people both having strong opinions they will not be divorced of any at cost, and a lot of misinformation being thrown out there that helpfully supports those positions.
The honest reality: Server admins have the right to defederate stuff. And if they defederate too much stuff, people will leave their instances behind anyways.

https://github.com/GitRamp exists but is empty. 🤔

I don't know if I agree but I also don't think it's as radical as some people have taken it.

ocdtrekkie (ocdtrekkie@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 09-May-2023 19:09:51 JST ocdtrekkie @atomicpoet @Gargron I read this as "either people expect 100% uptime and a full moderation team" or "they want to run their own and control everything", but servers somewhere in the middle size are likely to grant neither the professional operation nor the personal control users tend to want. Somewhere in the middle is often "seems cool until the admin gets in an argument and quits and deletes the server".

But the model and approach of Yarn is a bit different, so there's both technical and social differences in the connection.
For example, Twtxt users tend to practice "slow social", Yarn doesn't implement notifications, by choice.

Right now a single app has chosen an incompatible federation protocol they wrote themselves.

Like, you correctly guessed the villain, but you'd never expect it's literally just everyone in the movie.
Somewhere someone drew the timeline out for this movie and it's an absolute roller coaster.

ocdtrekkie (ocdtrekkie@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 07-Mar-2023 15:28:16 JST ocdtrekkie @atomicpoet I think fundamentally the people behind these positions lack the technical understanding of how their position isn't practical. They see something in front of them they dislike, often run by a small enough entity (one person) they can successfully bully into shutting it down. The fact it doesn't solve the problem they can't see is immaterial.

ocdtrekkie (ocdtrekkie@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 15-Dec-2022 21:08:03 JST ocdtrekkie @lxo I definitely don't object to copylefts! My statement in support of SSPL, which is merely, a stronger copyleft, should indicate that somewhat. ;)
I will probably visit the possibility of using a copyleft license if I build something of substantial value. The vast majority of my code is either trivial, connective tissue barey worth its own license, or objectively bad code that I happen to be fond of using.

ocdtrekkie (ocdtrekkie@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 14-Dec-2022 15:13:05 JST ocdtrekkie @lightweight I prefer permissive licensing but I think we need solutions to enable open source authors to charge large corporations heavily for usage. I think the failure of the OSI to accept SSPL or a similar variant thereof is a massive failure of the people we let dictate the definition of the term "open source".

ocdtrekkie (ocdtrekkie@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 14-Dec-2022 15:13:02 JST ocdtrekkie @lightweight I permissively license all of my code because I'm not interested in holding any conditions over it. I have no intention of monetizing it, and have no real desire to track usage (or misusage) of it.
