@BeAware Science, and especially climate science, works with AI (otherwise you couldn't work with these masses of data). But these scientific programmations have nothing to do with LLM or OpenAI-like gadgets.
@josemurilo If it was possible that a private company scraped more than one million posts from #Mastodon, Mastodon must have a big privacy problem. Or am I being too sensitive?
@Brendanjones You've done a lot of work here. But honestly, I'm tired of all these "how to behave on Mastodon" guides (and it drives a lot of people away to other platforms). There is no technology that is not abused. Even now you can quote post-links (you did it above 😎 ) or people make screenshots.
More important are security implementations: they are planned as Renaud writes in his comments! So easy.
@pvonhellermannn I know. The one drop too much. But I think the difference, especially for journalists, is that until now all images/videos could be interpreted in different ways (Hamas abused hospitals). There was no hard evidence (for a court e.g.).
This time there is the photo of the impact *right next* to the warning label (without possibility of Hamas inside) and the projectile can also be identified.
Am I actually the only one who is annoyed by these #newsmast bots that boost everything? Do they scrape content? They pretend to be a "community" but are nothing more than (algorithm-controlled) bots for topic feeds, followed by ridiculously few people. And in my opinion completely dispensable, because you can just as well follow the hashtags or groups. (More people follow hashtags & groups). Do you block them, do you let them boost?
@Snowshadow Sorry, my "we" was not meant as real persons, just for a situation (perhaps "one" would be the correct English?) I wanted to say that it's too early to talk about reasons.
But nice that you know what I know or have in my mind. Mindreading? 😉 Sometimes it's just a matter of my bad English.
@HistoPol@Snowshadow If not even the media have reliable information, we should not speculate wildly. Zuckerberg has so far only officially reported that there are login problems. Let's take it as a blessing: All the fascists were shut down too.😊
@Snowshadow@HistoPol That doesn't explain the difficulties between the USA and Europe. In The USA is "Super Tuesday" of the candidats, will say, a flood of comments hits a lot of declined, meanwhile often crappy servers (especially on Twitter). And then even more people comment on the down ... and it implodes.
@aral I've remained silent on the subject until now and can live with contrary opinions. I was happy to follow you. But now you've crossed a red line. By trivialising the Holocaust with an utterly impossible comparison. I'm not debating that, just wishing you goodbye. I can't stand it. @thetechtutor
@Brendanjones Well, if you search for carbon zero cement etc. you find many links and nobody can produce alternatives on an industrial level or they hide parts of carbon elsewhere. Even McKinsey ! writes that change hasn't yet arrived on an industrial scale, that it's everything still in experimentation. And there are many experiments like algae cement: https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/green-tech/a40785162/microalgae-carbon-neutral-cement/ To put it bluntly: I am fascinated by such approaches. I'm just extremely sceptical because I can't find anything about
@Brendanjones Unfortunately, I have no time to read the whole interview, I could only skim it. She's great in public relations. When things get interesting, she dodges the question and talks about "great stuff". She talks about basalt rocks (which ones), about bottom ash (others use that, too). She talks of calcium silicate that they use but not how it differs from industry (sometimes it comes from slag and that's absolutely not carbon-neutral). I found this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cement_chemist_notation
