@x I get where you're coming from, but I also think there's other issues that keep it from adoption

It's kinda funny to see the discourse on where to migrate from discord and there's 11,000 answers and few/none of them aren't really alternatives at all. But most of all, most aren't ready and/or severely limited in what they can do nor has the convenience and ease of use to have others move to it.

In short FOSS people don't really know how to upsell a product that will work for the majority

I use windows for gaming and art, tho I strip out a lot of the bloat
I use Linux for maintaining my VPS and other shit
I have a Mac mini that I use as a desktop
I have Haiku that I use for DAW stuff

Ain't a perfect OS IMHO they're all ass in their special way but I use whatever gets the job done. I think calling people idiots or whatever isn't gonna convince them to switch to a particular system, they just want what works and that's it

Didn't they abandon Dendrite? Also my favorite thing about Matrix is updating rooms, you lose all the history just to make a new one

At this point maybe a fediverse chat app would be easier to implement
