The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a heatwave across parts of NSW over the coming days, with temperatures expected to reach the high 30s and nudging almost 40 in some areas.
These conditions will lead to increased fire danger, and on Wednesday, dry north-westerly winds combined with high temperatures may see Extreme fire danger in some areas.
Tonight is a great time to talk about your bush fire plan. Ask yourself: • When will you leave if a fire threatens? • Where will you go? • What will you take?
Having a plan and discussing it with your family now can make all the difference.
@glc A little known tip that many pro mountain bikers use.
After oiling your chain, add a layer of gravy.
Not only will it keep the chain cleaner, but if you have a bad accident and are stuck on the trail for a while waiting rescue, you can suck on the chain and get all your regular nutrients to keep you alive. Better than carry a bottle of soylent green.
Also a gravy chain makes a good convenient quick trail snack.
"So what we're looking at right now in America, is waking up Monday morning and having $US3 billion ($A4.77B) worth of beef, pork and poultry no longer eligible to export to China,"
Export licences issued five years ago were meant to auto-renew, but that was not happening and it seemed to be on purpose.
Last year the United States sent 170,000 tonnes of beef to China that would need to find another market.
All of the sudden the only grain-fed beef on earth that China can buy is from Australia
First generation (Gen1) Starlink satellites are being retired to make way for newer models. "More than 500 of the 4700 Gen1 Starlinks have now reentered,"
When Starlinks reenter, they disintegrate before hitting the ground, adding metallic vapors to the atmosphere.
In February 2023, NASA flew a WB-57 aircraft 60,000 feet over Alaska to collect aerosols. 10% of the particles contained aluminum and other metals from the "burn-up" of satellites.
What we're observing is a giant uncontrolled experiment in atmospheric chemistry. The demise of just one Gen1 Starlink satellite produces about 30 kilograms (66 pounds) of aluminum oxide, a compound that eats away at the ozone layer. A new study finds these oxides have increased 8-fold between 2016 and 2022, and the recent surge is increasing the pollution even more.
Yea you cannout you account info somewhere, but you need bluesky to do everything else. Yes other companies can run relays, but the amount of data and storage means it is very costly. A decent big size company would be needed. As more uses are added, those costs grow. which then would have to inject ads to help pay for it all. Then the authentication of your account still needs to be done centrally by bluesky.
It is a great twitter replacement as that is what it was designed to be.
