@Moon@shitposter.club Really starting to think the same company where I cannot fucking delete my account at all is actually a fucking piece of shit. (No, really, you cannot delete your HP account.)
@terryenglish@blob.cat@icedquinn@blob.cat@Jain@blob.cat Yeah, we need more artists to migrate from Twitter, and I feel that this requires artistic freedom. Mastodon.art seems to have violated that, imposing unnecessary blocks on instances (which greatly reduces the potential audience) and strict rules (which just fuck over innocent people).
@Jain@blob.cat@icedquinn@blob.cat@terryenglish@blob.cat Same. Misskey.io seems like a friendly place for artists in general. I love seeing what neat stuff people make in that instance. It's what other instances should strive for to accomodate artists.
I feel that personalized social media algorithms have poisoned people in general. They were designed to get people addicted to the platforms, no matter what. Maybe that's why people started really hating the internet in the 2010s, when algorithms started getting used en masse.
@eris@akko.disqordia.space Glendale, Arizona? The traffic is shit in Phoenix's metro area, but there are surprisingly quite a number of places to go to there (especially the food).
@Moon@shitposter.club I personally feel that Mastodon specifically lost the spotlight to both Threads and other Fedi software. Gargron was trying to win over normies, who weren't really interested in Mastodon specifically. They moreso wanted a Muskrat-free website where they could engage with notable people (since that was the main draw for Twitter), in which Threads had that unlike Mastodon, and other aspects of Twitter, such as the memes, Tiktoks, and cat photos, aren't unique to it (In fact, almost every social media site can do it well with only a few exceptions). In comparison, people dedicated to the Fediverse's mission were left behind. Features they found to be helpful for this community, such as a higher character limit and emoji reactions, stayed outside of Mastodon, worsening their experiences. Eventually, they just moved to other Fedi software (Misskey, Pleroma, Akkoma), which did actually listen to the community and what they wanted.
@Mondobizarrro@social.xenofem.me@nyx@social.xenofem.me I also remember before getting this iPod, trying out some really shitty phone to play music. I liked its small size, but the battery was barely there and it easily overheated. It was still cool to (barely) play a solar system simulator on it, though.
@Mondobizarrro@social.xenofem.me@nyx@social.xenofem.me Ooh, iPod! I just recently found out that the iPod I thought was water-damaged still works. It was nice thinking back to middle school, where I could just drown out the noise on the bus and just vibe with Super Junior (K-Pop band). ITunes is shit, though, so I'm not going to use it.
@Jain@blob.cat Another thing to suggest is to push artists away from that instance and towards better ones. Artists deserve to have their art seen, and banning the potential audience, and especially those who have done nothing wrong, is contrary to that goal.
@Pawlicker@bae.st@nyarlathotep@tirnanog.space@mint@ryona.agency It's funny that a lot of people are expecting the Fediverse to be more private than the minimum of just not having data trackers. I've even heard some Youtubers condemn this project (I believe it was Mutahar of SOG and Linus of LTT) because "admins can red muh messages." Like geez, the Fedi is a public platform, and it's done enough for you all.
Also, they're called Direct Messages for a reason, not Private Messages.
@tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com It's funny how people see Youtubers as an exception to this, when really, the only real difference between them and other celebrities is being on Youtube. You should still take issue whenever a Youtuber is sponsored by yet another shit company or gets into retarded drama yet again.
@Jain@blob.cat@Lyude@queer.party Wait, so Facebook's implementing only limited federation (aka whitelists)? I'm not surprised if that's the case, considering they can just easily cut off federation, and thus the large community to provide vibrant discourse, to one instance that decides not to kneel over to them. It would basically give Facebook abusive influence over the instances that want to federate with them. That's my prediction, at least, since I've never been a fan of projects that implement whitelisting, such as Peertube.
@Moon@shitposter.club Ooh, System76 laptop. I'm using the company's Pop OS, which is a blissful experience for its easy-to-navigate modified GNOME desktop and general stability.
Hey. Cawfee club isn't working right now as of writing this bio, and I realized my only other account for accessing the Fedi was in the highly restrictive mastodon.social. I didn't want that, since most of the posts are either boring or abrasively political, and a federated timeline with varied perspectives is much more interesting. So, I registered here for this reason, besides wanting to try out Misskey. I may even switch to it if I really wanted, since this server isn't so Fediblocked and it has the emotes I want.To check out my other accounts, go to my Odysee account linked below.
