@VD15@coolboymew@noyoushutthefuckupdad misrepresenting the point tho, no one asked to replace man/woman with shit like people who give birth. It's used only when the trait your describing is the context of the discussion.
@mer@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad The argument on stupidpol went "What happens on business emails if you have a foreign or ambiguous name that gets misgendered without pronouns listing"
The immediate reality is "What does it matter to the vast majority of the population if they get misgendered once a while?" (Which, as far as I'm aware, is the entire basis to profile pronouns and how it became a "solidarity thing" which also immediately became extremely politically charged and a political signifier, pronouns in bios also means where you belong politically)
It continued to "But what if it's too common and it becomes annoying because it happens on a daily basis or something"
Which went into the question and answer "How did people deal with this back in the days before pronouns listing: Mr/Ms/Miss"
A lot of the issues we have currently is because everything is extremely politically charge, and the solution would be, to stop using and accepting politically charged terms in the first place
The whole thing surrounding trans and LGBT, drag queens and such, the massive issue that got people really mad in general is the political chargeness of it all. Would most people give a single shit if all this politically charged stuff didn't come with it and were shoved down everyone's throat? The most probable answer is no, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal otherwise. While you may NOT have wanted all of this stuff around it, the reality is that the political activists and the especially annoying people in the community, and most importantly, the elite (for whatever reasons they're involved into this), wanted it, are forcing it and has caused this immense mess by themselves
@coolboymew@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad The data is relevant where it is relevant. In a business email: not relevant to have either a title or pronouns. On a stream overlay, yeah pronouns might be relevant if chat is gonna talk about the streamers. Both cases, you're not actually designing a variable for it, you're writing out text freely so it costs nothing to put whatever you want.
Alright, here's this that made Twitter users mad as fuck. At some point, we got a lot of attack on Japanese artists from the usual culprit, and some people made these pictures in an attempt to communicate with Japanese users
The second picture (included in the post) is especially interesting, because it contain all the politically charged political signifiers. Obviously "not all", but we've been years into this and the culprits always belongs to the group that has all these political signifiers or are usually found supporting these
I don't think I even need to go deeper into the second pic and who got mad at Uzaki-chan, for example
3rd pic, some dude that pretty much admits he's censoring work. Look what I found on his archived twitter (4th pic)
So here's the thing, I go on a fighting game stream and see this politically charged stuff fore and center, why are they using politically charged stuff, which a lot of it goes completely against fandoms, fans and co and why doesn't the imbeciles expect they're going to get shit for it?
It's been political since inception, and then I went to show you how political it is, and how terrible a lot of that political chargeness is, which is exactly why people are sick of this shit
You can pretty much completely correlate every single bad thing happening in your games, medias, etc. to this very specific brand of politics because the political signifiers will be there, every single time
@coolboymew@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad Right you realize those are two different concerns tho. We were talking about pronouns on a stream and you give me twitter brain poisoned people as a reason why it's bad.
@coolboymew@mer@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad Also, there is literally no legitimate reason to ever list your "preferred pronouns". Just list you sex if you want people to refer to you a certain way - hell, trannies are free to lie and list their pretend sex, rather than their biological sex.
"Preferred pronouns" is 100% gender ideology poison.
@ChristiJunior maybe it's because my native language isn't English, but I hate such a sharp and brash disdain for linguistic imperialism — let's call it what it is. It's under the guise of being "polite". Yeah nah.
@s8n@mer@ChristiJunior@VD15@coolboymew@olmitch if we count Mesoamericans, I'll give credit to the Aztecs for being so unbelievably vicious that everyone else on the continent agreed that they needed to be wiped out. that's some impressive brutality on both sides there.
@mer@VD15@coolboymew@noyoushutthefuckupdad ah ok, but the problem is that the pronoun stuff is being pushed, it’s hard to ignore when you get expelled from matches or fired for ignoring it.
@mer@VD15@coolboymew@noyoushutthefuckupdad wait, so you're suggesting "Mr/Ms" should be ignored and replaced with "My preferred pronouns are xim/xer"? I'm not going to jump into this convo much more than this, but I wanted to make sure I'm reading this thread right
@harblinger@VD15@coolboymew@noyoushutthefuckupdad no you are reading wrong I'm saying if it doesn't matter, then we don't need either Mr/Ms nor pronouns and they don't need to be replaced with anything
I feel that personalized social media algorithms have poisoned people in general. They were designed to get people addicted to the platforms, no matter what. Maybe that's why people started really hating the internet in the 2010s, when algorithms started getting used en masse.
@limepeep@mer@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad yeah, and I'd argue that "Everyone ever: The website" is a really bad idea, even worse since Twitter had a low character limit where you cannot even have a good faith argument, it's impossible on Twitter
Also "everyone ever: the website" and algorithm and such makes it extremely easy to astroturf and put biases by people running it
IIRC during a Pokemon official tournament, the kid was asked about that and he laughed nervously and it was seen as laughing at it and was kicked out for it
@noyoushutthefuckupdad I'm very raunchy, foul mouthed and unfiltered but was allowed at some competitive gaming events in Canada and the USA for a while. That changed quickly when they found out my real views on feminists and trannies. @mer@VD15@coolboymew@harblinger
@mer@VD15@coolboymew@noyoushutthefuckupdad it's funny to me that in order to escape a box that people feel they were put in, they escape the box and put themselves in a new box that's just pink instead of brown.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad "Eli, what do you have to say about the accusations of being a homophobic Naz—" "I fuck men." "What about toxic masculinity?" "You're just jealous you can't be jealous p'tit tapette" and grabbed my dick. The interview stopped there and I got banned. @VD15@coolboymew@harblinger@mer
@coolboymew@mer@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad It's very obvious what this is *really* about: Obvious males wanting to pretend to be female, and special snowflakes wanting to be referred to as nonsense like "they", "xir", "fae" etc. Ultimately, it's about establishing that self-identity and wishful thinking trumps objective reality.
They turn everything they touch into again, another blob just like them that lacks any sexual dimorphism. Only they could butcher the human frame (and say what you will about anime having unrealistic proportions, but it’s at least nice to look at) into something that signifies absolutely nothing about the biological makeup of the subject in question.
All boys and men must be made girly, and all females must be made genderless altogether. It’s embarrassing and sickening.
I remember hearing that one of the major reasons they make everything so Goddamned ugly is because they think a character should be liked for their personality. Great, I agree. Except their personalities, when they’re made out like this, are just personalities of insufferable people that I’d hate in real life. It’s the personality of someone who watches Netflix, makes Marvel quips, and is a fat, ugly genderless blob to boot.
They don’t look good, they aren’t good people, fuck it.
@coolboymew@mer@VD15@noyoushutthefuckupdad like a YouTube person I watch said. I can get pronouns but the slackactivist on the internet are horrible. I think some trans people just want to live their life. But all these activist aren't helping it.
Retarded, bad faith advice. I'll leave the faggots with preferred pronouns alone when I can get away with displaying the Fourteen Words in the bios of my Big Tech accounts without anyone starting shit or trying to Cancel me.
