@benroyce @tseitr @Eetschrijver It's astonishing how many people don't understand the difference between "both sides bad" and "both sides the same". The first option sucks, but you pick "the best of a bad lot" and you keep working on having better choices on future occasions. I've never seen the second option, ever, anywhere. By the time THAT happens there is only one side left. The NSDAP, The Politbureau, etc. "All sides the same" = dictatorship. Not voting is a great way to get there.

Voting for the best of a bad lot is not "supporting" them. When the other choice is actual fascism, voting for the lesser evil lets you live to fight another day. Getting better candidates is your job for the following 1430 days.

When you hear a rumour that will make you feel all warm and happy inside and that would be hilarious if it were true, the first thing you should do is confirm it through secondary sources. Yesterday I shared a letter written by Epstein to JN which, it is now claimed, might be fake. Maybe it is. Maybe it's not. But I should have waited until I had seen reliable confirmation.

Russia is, or should be, a European country or at least a country that should be closely aligned with Europe. Obviously, so is Ukraine. We could be living in a European Union with Ukraine and Russia in Schengen. Instead, we let far right shit stirrers turn the UK into a basket case, allow shitheads like Wilders, Le Pen, Meloni, PiS and Orbán sow division, and a megalomaniac Putin steer Russia headlong into an unnecessary conflict with the rest of us. WHY ARE WE TOLERATING THIS SHIT?

And the amount we actually want to do such things is 0. To raise that as an argument against atheism is extraordinarily self damning.

Ultimately even those with the vilest possible opinions should be able to express them, but that is why it is even more important that those who do not wish to be exposed to them need effective, easily accessible ways to shield themselves from them. If protecting oneself from trolls, fascists and other scum becomes an exercise in mopping the floor while the tap's still running moderation is not good enough. It seems better here.

@GossiTheDog @campuscodi Of course, but the reply was about changing a home WiFi name, as if that would foil an employer's attempt to enforce a "return to office" mandate. So it's not unreasonable to then point out that they already have a LOT of other ways they can keep tabs on where their employees actually are as opposed to where they claim to be.
