I'm in a debate with my neighbor about the interior paint for my cabin. I know that it ultimately comes down to what I want to live in--I'm gonna be staring at it, not him. But now I'm wondering if I'm just blind.

I wanted a very soft pink for the walls, and a very dark slate green for the trim. He says these colors don't go together at all. I think they look fucking magical together.

Opinions can change. But good luck persuading people to not be a weak bitch when it's easy and profitable.

If they build and deploy weapons that kill people, they aren't "titans of industry" or "Innovators" or "holding up the economy" or "overlords": They're fucking murderers.

Mark Zuckerberg: Murderer.
Elon Musk: Murderer.

Let's reduce these fuckers to the small and insignificant criminals that they are, and give them the same justice that nameless criminals get.

Let's do what they do to make the fate we want for them real: Speak of it like it's a foregone conclusion. (1)

When you write to your Congress people, ask them about the details of HOW they will punish these murderers--do not explain to them that they're murderers.

When people use their products, treat them like they invited a murderer into their home.

Let's set the expectation that they will be brought to justice. Behave as though they promised it to you, already.

No more lowering our expectations. RAISE THEM.

I've been down and out many times in my life. And RAISING your expectations is what gets you out of a hole. Not lowering them. Declaring that you will turn this ship ALL THE FUCKING WAY AROUND and will not only recover, but will have MORE than you expected for yourself--that's the lift.

Expect them to be held accountable. Demand that your expectations be met. And eradicate their power with how you speak of them.

They are weak and puny.

I judge people who use AGI more harshly than I judge MAGA. Because even if what MAGA fights for is evil, at least they aren't fighting for their own destruction. At least they aren't trying to win at blowing up everything that makes life living and living itself. They are cruel, selfish, murderous, bigoted hunters, yes. They fucked everything up with their vote, yes. But they thought they had some kind of stupid, horrible, brainwashed point to make.

What prompts someone to use generative AI?

@miki_lou She doesn't consume much and doesn't have a car. But she stopped doing organized things because it was required that she change her personality and aesthetic. I think your message should be sent to people who would reject help because they look down on women who wear lipstick. And she still did more in her lifetime than any of them, or any current environmental activist I know.

Regarding the need to keep going even when it's hard--I totally agree. And my mom kept going as long as she could.

Of course, it's not just the in-group fighting that makes it hard. My mom was a whistleblower because she got the information from my dad, who was doing advertising for DOW. He lost his job over it. Activism makes you a social outcast from the get go. When the in-group's against you, that's often the last straw.
