All of Israel, all US mainstream media, almost all US politicians, almost all major US institutions. It's certainly a lot bigger than NY tunnel-jews. They're all saying the exact same line... 'Israel has a right to defend itself'.
You're correct that the one statute cannot be relied on to enter the conflict. However, the President can leverage the 'should' language contained in that statute to legally justify more direct involvement which would then satisfy the obligation to report to congress within 60 days.

There is a slight nuance that's easy to overlook since it's happening right now.

In reality, there is already a law saying we *should* provide defense support. Since the 'should' is currently happening, the difference is less obvious and has little bearing.

There were reasons why they had to label j6 as an insurrection. There will be no large-scale arrests like j6. Trumptard hasn't even declared an insurrection to enable the exercise that authority.
People who say 'that's what I voooted for' will have no problem choking another one down. At this point, they likely have no gag reflex.
