I think Microsoft really got in with the "bad crowd". Seriously.
It's like they took all the wrong lessons from those sketchy sites and malware installers, and then started doing that themselves.

As a side note, I'm truly happy to be a Linux user. It does have its own share of ups and downs, but I appreciate how transparent and open the FOSS ecosystem is.
For some reason, software and services from Big Tech companies are just becoming more uncomfortable and increasingly complex to navigate.
Thanks to all the open source devs and the community who make this all possible! 😄
For any Apple users out there, make sure to disable iCloud backups if possible. iCloud data is no longer going to be end-to-end encrypted.
As always, consider switching to a self-hosted solution like @nextcloud. While commercial cloud services are convenient, it's much better to have complete control over your own data.
P.S. This only seems to affect UK users for now, but it may get rolled out worldwide.
@killyourfm I don't know... 🤔
Doesn't the form factor of the 3DS make it unappealing to play via an emulator on PC? It was kind of meant to be played with two screens and a stylus.
@killyourfm Does that mean you usually stick to laptops or prebuilt desktops?
Who knew that it's possible to boot straight into UEFI setup by just running "systemctl reboot --firmware-setup"? 🤯
It makes all those times I was mashing F12, as soon as the computer started booting, utterly pointless — especially after getting Linux installed.
Well, at least I know about it now.
@killyourfm What about Thunderbird?
@CWSmith @killyourfm Yeah, that totally sucks.
Having to deal with friends and family who find Linux difficult to use and unintuitive is definitely a nightmare.
Since you recommended it to them, you also end up having to provide a 24/7 tech support service (which is less than ideal). 😬
It's much better to find other ways of getting more people to use Linux — whether it's by contributing code, writing documentation or publishing guides.
That's much less stressful and way more productive! 😃
@killyourfm The song has a real retro vibe from the 80s and 90s that I dig! 🤟🏽 😎
I'm excited to hear your final cut when it's ready. Keep it up!
@killyourfm Did you get physical copies or buy them digitally?
GIMP is currently being ported over to GTK 3.0, which would probably also allow it to work natively on Wayland.
The release schedule for GIMP 3.0 is set to May of next year, but it's going to be tough. So, if there's anything you can do, please do consider helping out.
@killyourfm Seriously, how do you keep making such amazing music? You could probably make a living out of it.
@killyourfm @alecaddd @thunderbird Let us know once the song finally gets released. I'll be looking forward to it. :coolmsn: 🎸 🎼
Also, I do agree that "The Thunderbirds" does sound like a pretty swell rock band. Here's to me hoping it will actually happen. 🤟 🔥
@libreoffice @linuxmagazine Does there happen to be digital editions of these magazines? 🤔
@killyourfm Is that Fedora KDE? 🤔 :fedora:
@wiredfire @killyourfm I quite agree with you.
The real issue here is the lack of transparency and possibly user choice. If anything, it's very likely this will be enabled by default and impossible to opt out of.
I do think this will definitely become an integral part of the "Windows Experience" rather than just being a gimmick, though. It's quite powerful to be able to change system settings or crunch data by just asking Windows Copilot.
It's amusing how Windows as a platform is changing.
@killyourfm @jonhicks Unlike the current logo, this one makes it very apparent that Thunderbird and Firefox are related. It looks great too! 🤩
@killyourfm @Disputatore Yeah. That's definitely the sensible thing to do when starting out.
By the way, if you have "JasonTV", "JasonSocial" and maybe even "JasonGram" (PixelFed), you can probably call it the "JasonVerse". ?
I apologize for the bad joke. I had to make it. ?
@killyourfm That's definitely a great idea. ?
It's something that I've also considered, although I am not very confident about my ability to manage the instance properly.
I am curious, though. Will it be just you on your PeerTube and Mastodon instances, or do you plan to make it available to more people over time? ?
@killyourfm @AdamBishop @tilvids @thunderbird I am pretty sure your videos would fit well on TILvids.
If you check the "About" section, you'll see that "Music" is one of the tags shown.
