@fesshole as I understand it, drivers aren’t allowed to use customers toilets, and their schedules and movements are monitored to the extent that this is the only solution (not the leaving it in delivery box part!).

@Gargron yeah it’s a shame that when they have that playful Q logo that suggest a turntable, that they don’t actually use it for the app icon on desktop or mobile.

I’ve been trialling using Qobuz through Roon app, which has so much more finesse as a UI, but… it’s yet another subscription

“In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.”

@Gargron yeah still love last.fm as the one true source of listening stats. I looked into methods for scrobbling vinyl, and ended up using either Discographic app (if you use Discogs) or https://openscrobbler.com, which is manual, but really quick and easy.

“With no publisher to appease, no editor to report to, and an abundance of cheap tools, he says he feels unleashed to work directly with his audience.”

Podcasting is a decentralised success story - “from wherever you get your podcasts”. Nice to find out where the term originated https://noc.social/@todayilearned/113591101967188116

I've added @ben's fediverse-friendly ShareOpenly to the Hicks.design Journal, and blogged a bit about the icon:

A quick two penneth (putting the privacy elephant in the room aside for a moment):

Bluesky: first experience - empty. Void. Hard to find people I want to follow.

Threads: very quick easy setup process if you’re on insta (which will be key for most people), but once in its chaos and anxiety inducing. Can’t turn off suggested posts, doesn’t remember where you were (and it’s an algorithmic timeline anyway).

It’s interesting to dip into others, but it just solidifies why I’m on Mastodon.

It's inevitable that throughout my career, I've watched as work gets replaced and updated by others. It's rare to be asked to redesign old work, which is why I leapt at the chance when @thunderbird asked if I could design a contemporary update to the Thunderbird logo. The one I designed 19 years ago!

I’ll do a proper blog post soon, but for now you can read more here:

So Dropbox is doing the two things every bg tech company is doing:

    1. Laying off workers
    2. 'Moving into AI’

Could it not? I like Dropbox just to sync my files in the background and leave it at that.
