@dansup I'm assuming it's using a pretty standard recommendation mechanism, is it?

If one of your family members (pick any) expressed an interest in Linux, which distribution would you set up for them? 🐧

Unsure which Linux distribution to use? I 100% agree with this article by @unsungnovelty@mastodon.social

@aliceif @unsungnovelty I have never tried PopOS. I don't have an opinion about it.

@Polychrome It would be cool if you could run SteamVR without occupying RAM for the stupid Steam Web Helper.

@aral @farshidhakimy I think this is what happens if you tell it to show notifications on the lockscreen, but not the notifications' content, which is a privavy setting, I believe.

@Paradox @grillchen @kaia I used to do that too, but I think negative review bombing is a thing now. I've bought many decent products which had reviews saying it broke after a week or two but lasted me for years.

@kaia I gave up using Amazon years ago. I use price search engines and Ebay to find independent shops instead.
Oh, and I also completely ignore any reviews. There's a reason Ebay doesn't have any. It's always bullshit in my opinion.

@aral If @mozilla just focused on making a good browser, I would even pay for it. But that greedy CEO needs to go first.

@kaia @mangeurdenuage Honestly? I don't know what's more expensive. Four sports cars or a property large enough to sustain yourself.

However, the Steam Deck seems to refuse to draw any more than 0.5A at 5V, even after boot. No good news for flights only offering USB-A ports for power. 😩

It appears that a Nintendo Switch will only charge at 0.5 A if it's not plugged in to a 15 V charger. The charger is definitely capable of 1.5 A or more. Does that sound right?

@ralim Oh, nevermind! It's charging at 1.45 A now, and it's also doing that when awake.
It seems like it's only negotiating the higher current when the kernel is active. Interesting.
