    • Bridgy Fed for Bluesky

Let's just make @bsky.brid.gy opt-out please. I have now had a situation where a person I want to follow has stopped posting on their Fedi account and moved on to Bluesky. This is ridiculous.

Stop flocking to #Bluesky everyone. It's just as much of a walled garden as #Twitter

@solidsanek Oh, I know what you mean. I also think a "Uninstall, but keep user data" feature would be useful.

@solidsanek It's so funny that they keep adding features to remove/hide/undisplay unwanted apps just to avoid allowing people to actually uninstall them.

There are so many projects I forgot to include in this graphic! There are also @Blender, @Kodi, @gotosocial and @godotengine only to name a few. Although I haven't checked if all of them accept donations. Maybe I'll make an updated version of the graphic soon.

Hey @dansup, I just had to record my screen in order to share a video I saw on @loops with a friend. You're probably drowning in work, but sharing posts via URL is important for growth IMO.

I started regularly donating about a year ago. I am now supporting 8 different projects with 20,77€ per month, and it didn't hurt at all.

Why pay for something free? Because free software only exists because other people already paid for it. Someone has to do it. It's time to do your part!

If you can afford a subscription service, then you probably can afford a little donation, too. Start with 0.1% of your income.

    Check out @Liberapay or @opencollective

@solidsanek So it isn't actually glowing green, like media and pop culture has taught us for decades?

My work laptop has two sets of mouse buttons. So you can trigger "mouse down" twice and then "mouse up" twice. I wonder if there is any programs or games I could crash with this. :drgn_3c:

@peertube Can the separate audio and video streams also hide bandwith issues by pausing the video but still playing the audio? I noticed YouTube seems to do that.

@kaia It depends on what kind of ads they are talking about. Do you know Kurzgesagt? When they were on public funding, they were not allowed to promote their own merchandise and books. They made some really nice books, but couldn't promote them in their videos because it was seen as advertisement.

I think ads are okay if they are just about promoting closely related things, but - as we all know - that's a slippery slope.

Pro #Linux Tip: Stay away from putting anything in `/etc/environment`. I know, it's soo convienient; until you forget about it. Trust me, you *will* forget about it. And half a year later you will be scratching your head about some weird problem that seemingly only affects you. "Why only me?" you will ask. And after hours of research you will discover why it was only you. Because only you had put some crap in `/etc/environment` and forgot about it.

Imagine Valve made the Steam client open source. I don't see why not. Their core business is the platform itself. People from all over the place would fix all the tiny little annoying issues with it.

@kaia Is that the reason? If they deem TOTP not secure enough (I do), then they should draft a better standard.

Or at the very least let me use a hardware authenticator. My main bank does that, but another (much younger) does not.

#CyberSecurity and #InfoSec people, what speaks against using TOTP for everything?

It annoys me that every financial institution wants me to install their proprietary app while we already have standards for #2FA. Why can't I approve a transaction with my existing authenticator?

@trunksapp I think these settings are important and they should be adopted.

However, I also think being able to reply to anything posted on the internet should be accepted as normal. It's a public space, like a market square or a pub. If I go out spreading my opinion, then other people can, will, and should react to that. Anything else will only increase the already existing loneliness problem in the world.

I do not condone harassment in any way, and it is certainly taking on terrible forms nowadays, but receiving both positive and negative reactions is essential for human social behavior.
