    The Open Collective Platform is moving to a community governed non-profit!

    A group of fiscal hosts representing thousands of collectives have created a new independent, community-governed, non-profit organization and have reached an agreement with Open Collective Inc. to take over the Open Collective platform as it exists today.

      Fiscal Host Transition
      from @opencollect
      Following a request from Open Collective Foundation we will not be building the technical capabilities to duplicate your collective. This would have helped collectives to start receiving contributions with a new Fiscal Host while still holding funds with OCF. Having two fiscal Fiscal Hosts is against the terms of Open

    @Brendanjones As a platform, we're not charging Collectives and usually rely on voluntary tips ("Platform Tips").

    However, most Collectives prefer to use the services of a Fiscal Host (or fiscal sponsor) which can usually charge anywhere from 2% to 10%.

    By default, we claim a small portion of that percentage but also have custom relationships with some of the Fiscal Hosts.

    @Brendanjones As a matter of fact, we're not a co-op at this point. However, we're currently working toward a similar goal, we name it "Exit to Community" #e2c https://opencollective.com/e2c

    @stackaid @voxpelli @clacke Happy to help you match dependencies with their Open Collective (if any). We can look at some data set and see if we can find some that you don't already have.

    @elk @liaizon @LauraLangdon

    As a first step, if you tag your Collective with "mastodon" or "fediverse", Open Collective will show up a "Share on Mastodon" instead of Facebook.

    We did this as quick answer a few weeks ago, we need to think about a better long term solution.
