New "View Reach" experience comes from the long-in-experiment feature I built almost a year ago, but I spent some time really trying to make it work better across screen sizes.

The goal is to quickly let you see which servers and how many users from those server have boosted a particular post!

Man, I really hate the term "followers".

Use vote.gov as a resource on where and how to cast your ballot.

It's election season in the United States, please make sure you take a break from social media and ensure that you have your voice heard by participating in the privilege that is the democratic process.

New preview card authors attribution was added in the Mastodon API recently.

I've added support to surface it if it's available.

That means that if the author of the article or link is on the fediverse, you can click directly to them.

(Note: You can get account previews by hovering on web and long pressing on mobile, works everywhere there's an account image)

On the topic of reply gating.

Since Mastodon doesn't support it out of the box, I had added these settings under 'User Safety' a while back.

There are far too many people who think they're entitled to be able to reply to anything posted on the Internet, and there's far too much harassment that hides in the folds of federation.

Hopefully these types of User Safety settings will be adopted upstream sooner than later, allowing communities to grow.

Recent activity lets you quickly see what kind of behaviors and reach a poster/account has!

Instead of using this data to infer what to promote to users, I'm just going to show it to them and trust them to make their own decisions about who to follow.
