I mean, assholes, but I won't deny that my personal immediate desire is to say 'no no you just have to feel how that dial turns'.

I have been lusting after this old Sony thing that I used to have in the 90s, which I look up on eBay here and there, remembering how awesome the dials and switches felt to play with. But I don't have good speakers, and the shipping is basically as expensive as the devices, and....ugh, still want it.

Genuinely if i could be confident in that physical sensation I would easily buy a broken one, rewire it with essentially a 'spare' computer and turn it into my smart house control center.

The kinesthetic sense on those hi fi systems of that era are amazing.

So leaving aside everything else, and I still can't get over the choice of Fortunate Son as a song, I think this actually brought home something that I think he's been trying very hard to ignore-

The fact is, he has more people who dislike him, than like him.

I know, we know this, but I think really he has failed to see it. But teh side by side 'millions marching in every city' vs 'very small parade'..I think even he noticed.

Does it matter? I don't know. We'll see, I guess?

We're all just a series of 'good enough' stuff that 'mostly' works, and average stuff is just...what mostly seems to hit most people. IT's all such guesswork.

@pluralistic @cstross I fucking hate that I have done this a few times. They ask every time when you say no, but only once if you say yes, and clawing any of it back is at best difficult, arguably impossible.

This man can literally buy anything with a price tag, refuses to make people's lives better ( at all), attacks anything that ever makes him uncomfortable for any reason, and wants to have people like him so much it informs everything else.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I for one am super looking forward to the major cascade effect of people frightened of deportation and h5n1, and dismantling the -reporting- of same, so food prices go crazy and nobody can trust food not to get them sick.

Because large groups of frightened hungry, desperate people have never done anything noteworthy.

Actually lemme throw in a suggestion - learn to make crepes.

They are -so- -damn- -easy-.

Once you figure out the basics, you can stuff with literally anything ( sugar? Chocolate? Steak? Orange slices?), you look incredibly fancy, and it's just eggs. Trivial protein, sounds deeply posh, and suddenly you are a 'chef' for basically knowing one dish ( that can be made hundreds of different ways with almost anything in the fridge).

I don't know if it's just narrative shifting (it's not gaza, it's not the guy who killed a board member, it's not the various insane trump picks), or if it is sort of a long structured groundwork play for either supporting or downplaying israel's importance (could go either way on this one), or if it's...something I have simply not considered.

But considering this wasn't even a whisper a week ago and it's wall to wall (tv coverage) now?

If you make a filter for long thread/ from @pluralistic then filter it off your home feed into a reading list, you get the headline/first post, then all follow-ups filter off. So you just get the base ' here is the topic ' and everything else is magiced away to something you can click on to follow up at your leisure. He is 100% consistent in this format.

That isn't to say rss might not be a better option for you! Just presenting the choice.
