I guess the cats out of the bag and I retweeted that because I finally have enough of it done that I'm not afraid I'll lose interest and give up. I've been working on the "article" for the past 5-6 nights but like I said, it's not website material, nobody comes to NIDC for music reviews and critiques. Plus I want to re-write the intro and I'm trying to decide if I can get away with sharing 60 songs instead of just 45. The Cure's catalogue is fucking huge and I love most of it.

AnarchoNinaWrites (anarchoninawrites@jorts.horse)'s status on Wednesday, 27-Nov-2024 06:49:10 JST AnarchoNinaWrites Originally I was going to just share my three favorite songs off each album, but as I started writing I kinda realized that as a huge fan of the band, my peferances didn't necessarily line up with "the best way to get new people excited about a 2024 album to check out this band."
Furthermore, while writing it I sorta realized the albums broke naturally into three equal tiers for me; 5 where picking 3 songs was easy, 5 where I'd have to leave out 1-2 songs I love, and 5 where it's impossible.

Things have just been outrageously hard for me the last little while, and not just because of the news, my personal/family life is kinda falling apart because cancer is horrible and capitalism is evil.
This is more or less a therapy project designed to make me start writing again and if I'm right, finishing it will help me get back to the stuff you'd rather read eventually.

If none of those three songs does anything for you, there's a pretty good chance you're just not into the band. They also had a pretty strong post punk, and a pure gothic rock phase some people go absolutely apeshit for, but there are hints of those periods laid inside the three songs I just listed.

How dare you write about something you feel strongly about in your own manner and the way you want? Heh. Honestly it's always nice to see people who present a lot more NT than I have their hyperfocal tangents.I am not sure why the cure never resonated with me. Someone from college tried a bit to get me into them, but it didn't take. I recognize the talent, but nothing made me just dive in ( most other bands of similar fame I at least have one song that I adore).

Different strokes for different folks and all that; they're my favorite band, but I hate The Doors for just one example of a band people absolutely go apeshit for who I could go the rest of my life without hearing ever again.
