    This was helpful to clarify some of what I'm wondering re: the way this is being presented in American media and what Pig Empire power hopes to gain from the way it's being presented.

    Unfortunately my scroll is no longer working, so I can't identify who shared the link with me, but whoever it was - thank you.

      In particular, this part seems to explain at least on a surface level why US media is working so hard to stress the term "moderate" and promise me that there is *no longer* an Al-Qaeda influence (which again, is suspicious, because that very same media was pretty adamant that there never was an Al-Qaeda influence in the Syrian Civil War for a very long time while the US was directly funding rebranded Al-Qaeda brigades. Past tense; not saying that's happening now.)

      Also, because this keeps coming up - I do not weep tears for Bashar Al-Assad, nor do I have any questions about why Syrians who are not in a right wing/religious extremist militia wanted him gone, nor do I think the future is set in stone and I can predict it from half a world away.

      I legit just wanted to know why my media that does not care about Syrians was selling me what is clearly a coordinated narrative about one powerful faction of rebels that sounds VERY familiar to my 47 year old brain

      @Oggie @hannu_ikonen It helped clarify a lot for me, but I have at least a surface awareness of the prior situation from previous reading.

      @AnarchoNinaWrites
      (it was @hannu_ikonen who shared it, I read it but still feel....very very underinformed, which is not his or anyone else's fault but mine! I just feel like someone's quoting page 100 of Critique of Reason and I'm trying to contextually catch up)
