@bmacDonald94 This belief pushed on us that the economy follows some natural and unchangeable law, is specious. The fact is, it follows social & behavioral laws. And the idea that we must obey rules set by 0.1% of people because "that's the only way things work" is nonsense. When people understand that the rules are against them they cease to play the game. They cease to obey those rules.
@seachanger@inthehands If they pick anyone else it's bullshit. We will lose, voters of color, women and others will sit it out. She's entirely more qualified than Trump, She is certainly better or at the very least equally qualified as anyone
2/2 when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness."
Carl Sagan quote 1/2 "I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time—when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority;
Wait. So the people that all dress in trump t shirts, Trump hats, wave trump flags, cover their trucks and cars with trump stickers,and small trump flags, Then go on vacation to have trump boat flotillias, are calling us "sheep"
Migrants are risk takers and entrepreneurs. I think the fact that they often walked hundreds of miles to get here risking everything, including their lives, just bust their ass in shitty jobs is what really frightens the chuds. They realize that their having a beard and a pickup doesn't guarantee what it used to. They know they don't measure up.
@lonerfanatic I'm Jewish (culturally not religiously) "Zionist" does not mean "Jewish" many Jews are organizing and taking part in the protests. Most of the standard anti Semitic assholes are pro Israel in this instance anyway, because the right loves a good slaughter.
@bmacDonald94 They are the perfect example of "but it's just a tiny engine" Yes, if hardly anyone had them it wouldn't be an issue. . Right winger always use this stuff to make any positive change seem ridiculous.
I remember hearing an interview with a former CEO who advocates for public schools. He said one of the lines I get from politicians a lot is "Throwing money at it won't solve the problem" He replies "Well it seems to always work for the Pentagon"
Wife was just watching something about some Florida douchebros playing it off like they were tech douchebros and scamming everyone with a series of bullshit crypto schemes. I have two thoughts First 99% of the people investing were greedy bastards hoping to make a quick buck without actually doing anything of value. So fuck them. Second. Every time dickheads like this scam tens of millions of dollars they spend it on the worst bullshit imaginable.
@ryanhoulihan The deep irony here is that she speaks out about this on a platform run by yet another lionized tech bro who is also an abusive, overrated, psychopath. These people are everywhere
I wish I could see the whole conversation. Because it doesn't seem unreasonable to use "he" for David. Also ro has his pronouns in his bio. Let's make sure we pick out battles wisely.
@admin@AnCuRuadh@kayeluvian Fair enough. There is certainly much to be critical of in a national system. As you said "single point of failure" Here you can have some choice. The problem is that you have only as much choice as you can afford. This leaves millions with only the bare minimum of care. For people working a $20/hour job that's an academic point. Also where I am you have to go to the city to avoid going to a hospital run by religious zelots.
