I still find it shocking that while the UK handwrings about puberty blockers (used for over 30 years), Ozempic and others are touted as panaceas. No long-term research, never mind they just make you slightly nauseous all the time, who cares they're expensive and so what they completely undermine what little body positivity we have going on. None of that shit matters because THEY MAKE YOU THIN AND OMFG FAT IS BAD. Being fat is not the worst thing that can happen to you.

Kay Elúvian (kayeluvian@the.voiceover.bar)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2024 01:00:33 JST Kay Elúvian Every day a new study pops up saying weight-loss drugs cut your risks of cancer, or risk of heart disease or or fucking or. These studies are breathlessly reported, no questions about whether they are *repeatable* or *long term* or even WHO IS SPONSORING THEM. Nope, just see here fatties take your injections and jus be NORMAL like the rest of us you ugly, horrible, lazy people!
We were close to accepting people at different sizes and seeing the innate beauty in everyone.

Now pay £250 a month for an injection. I tried it, it was ruinously expensive, destroyed my appetite and made me sick all the time. It was impossible to derive any pleasure from any food or food-adjacent gathering (like dinner or a meal out). Sticking needles of medicine nicked from diabetics isn't the answer, accepting your body, your age and your mortality and choosing what's best for you is the answer.

If eating well and enjoying your food makes you happy, then do that. Accept everyone as they are on their journey through life. Fuck off with BE THIN, OBEY, CONSUME bullshit. Thin people are great, fat people are great, tall people are great and short people are great. We're great the way we are and don't need drugs to "shed a few pounds". Rant concludes.

A satirical comedy site provides better balance than most newspapers. That's the universe we're in. We'll be wearing our shoes on our heads before long.

The fact ours has institutional transphobia is because that needs fixing, just like its chronic underfunding (see waiting lists) and that every cabinet minister likes dicking with the rules (because the NHS is so complicated its infinitely configurable for a jerk trying to put their stamp on it).

Kay Elúvian (kayeluvian@the.voiceover.bar)'s status on Monday, 11-Sep-2023 22:43:27 JST Kay Elúvian Want to know why the #NHS rules and why Brits love it and will defend it to the death?
I take:
Sertraline ($76 USD per month)
Atarvostatin ($148 /m)
Propranolol ($42 /m)
Estragel ($158 /m)
Decapeptyl (~$100 /m)$524 every month.
I pay £110 per year / ~$12 per month.
Also I was out of sertraline so the pharmacist said "come in, I'll give you some".
And while I was at the pharmacy, I got a free flu shot (cos I'm a fat squidge).
No wallet biopsy. No insurance.
TREASURE THE NHS.

The #metpolice are arresting people because they “might spoil some people’s enjoyment” if they protest later. This is #authoritarianism to protect an unelected billionaire.
Once more for emphasis: it is legal in the #UK now to arrest people if the cops think you might spoil the mood by disliking the king.
This is #fascism
