@ATLeagle honestly, every league in the world has a very serious quality in officiating issue. When I speak to people who don't like to watch sports, but are knowledgeable of them, the first thing they all say is the referees are so poor they're either crap or corrupt. It's really hard to overlook when you dig down on that idea as well. And each league also acts like it's only an image issue which makes everything worse.

@hannu_ikonen I remember thinking the Dems were incompetent at best and cowardly at worst when I was in my teens. I didn't have anywhere near the awareness then that I have now. Now I realize the extra nuance isn't anything less than complicity in the form of weaponized incompetence. And now every time I see one of Clara Belle's videos making fun of men, I can't help but see the Vichy Dems in my head in the exact same vein. They are not clueless, they are conniving.

@AnthonyJK legit when I bring up HOA and TBS as examples of how things here are not super rosy after people are trying to say that BS and Shitter should never be considered because of transphobia I get shouted down with "whataboutism has entered the chat" and similar. @gwynnion i agree with you. reading Zuboff earlier this year provided me with this thought about why we think the way we do about current politics (YMMV): Zuboff points out how hard it was for people to comprehend totalitarianism. I feel that here in the USA we are struggling to comprehend what is happening in politics and society. from Shoshana Zuboff Surveillance Capitalism notes p. 336 in the print edition:
