@p @nigger @Suiseiseki @bonkers this is not a bytecode VM, such resources are still interesting but this is a ast walking VM, with fundamental semantics identical to C's so that it'll be trivial to transpile to C and JIT hot loops into machine code that way, even without giving JIT explicit VM support beyond FFI.
this is the only reason I'd bother as "low level lisp with C constructs as primitives" doesn't seem to be a thing yet. well, except for carp but that sounds like it replaced GC herpes with mandatory ownership and borrow checking turbo-AIDS, when my original purpose was just an ergonomic C wrapper

@p @nigger @Suiseiseki @bonkers I see what you mean by this now, I started working on my own language and I see that compilers are trivially distributable so having a compiler written after 2010 that isn't is retarded.
my plan is to have the main interpreter spawn interpreters and pass messages, source code is a message, errors are messages, the target code is a message, and then all I'd need is to make the interpreter agnostic to whether it's reading its characters from a char*, file handle, pipe, TCP connection etc. (and the other way for linking from memory region, filename, network etc.)
I've got picrel to read first before the CSP text but I will do that, sounds like it'll be invaluable for when I start writing schedulers and whatnot

    1. How Hentai Destroys Your Mind
      from Pax Tube
I hate what this shit did to me so much. I don't feel like I can look at normal situations with innocence anymore. Even when I set boundaries for myself (no raceplay/cuck, scat, humiliation, etc) I still took a different direction and because hentai had no real world limits, I took fascination with some truly evil e-fetishes if they were practiced in real life. I keep wondering if my physique would've been in better shape if it wasn't for that. And I'm glad I found out it was bad when I did. A friend of mine on the internet, who we sadly only became close with cuz we had the same fetish, took his addiction way too far and now he thinks he's a traaannny. I now look at people who use this shit as a meme, even if it's supposedly self aware, like the loli FBI meme, I look at it with cringe and disgust.

@joba @Humpleupagus @lord_nougat I have installed four (4) GUI apps onto my new work laptop with Wayland because I'm on a Wayland project, and of them two are already being fucked with by Wayland (Wayland renders Emacs wrong, resulting in half the info bar being off-screen, and Mumble push to talk is impossible)
it's impressive how useless it is

@SuperDicq @a1ba then you need 40 lines of config because nothing actually works. examples include using clipboard (1 line in vimscript, a package import in emacs), p then does what P does with clipboard contents not from emacs, scrolling is not smooth, and even in doom emacs which solved most problems folds behave really weirdly

@SuperDicq @a1ba if your terminal emulator is good (e.g. st, not konsole which has shit for colours) then there's literally no difference except that it doesn't send you out of the terminal if you have a DE and you can't open pdfs (I never wanted to anyway)

    >fine GCC extensions (vendor lock yourself to shitty infrastructure intentionally designed to be useless for compiler and language tooling developers because some of them might use it for something proprietary, which instead created the current ubiquity of clang/LLVM. yet somehow there's less freedom there because some piece of paper says you can't use it a certain way on top of the designer making it so you can't use it as a library)

    >it has a GPG key on their website, that means it's GNU!!
holy shit, is this actually bait? this is far dumber than asserting that GCC being used in an upstream toolchain makes something GNU.

/boot/grub means grub is used by the installer iso, it does not mean it is actually part of the system, as it's not in the apks. again, component of toolchain != component of system.

and some GNU packages being installed in non-core sections of a system makes it GNU? that is jewish bullshit on par with the GPL. oy vey the honour of your system was promised to me 3000 years ago even though I only built minor elements of it.

minimalist installs are "edgy" because your cult isn't represented, boo hoo. arch and gentoo must be also edgy because they include even fewer packages.

so you can use software any way you want, so long as you don't use it in the wrong way, by the way, how would you feel if you didn't have breakfast yesterday morning?

ok, so how do you get the AST of a C program using GCC? that is the bare minimum to consider a compiler usable as a library.
    https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-help/2025-May/144192.html
here we have a guy who can already do so using clang being told by a gnigger to develop a plugin to do it himself, and it'll break in a later version if he does lol.
there's a freedom respecting compiler mentioned here, and it's not GCC.

@Suiseiseki @HatkeshiatorTND @SuperDicq @hj @sun @Wiz @hakui “I use Linux as my operating system,” I state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. He swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision. “Actually”, he says with a grin, "Linux is just the kernel. You use GNU+Linux!’ I don’t miss a beat and reply with a smirk, “I use Alpine, a distro that doesn’t include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. It’s Linux, but it’s not GNU+Linux.”

The smile quickly drops from the man’s face. His body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth and drops to the floor with a sickly thud. As he writhes around he screams “I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT’S STILL GNU!” Coolly, I reply “If windows was compiled with gcc, would that make it GNU?” I interrupt his response with “-and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. Even you were correct, you wont be for long.”

With a sickly wheeze, the last of the man’s life is ejected from his body. He lies on the floor, cold and limp. I’ve womansplained him to death.
