While the eastern US has been colder than normal in January, the western US has been hotter, far hotter. In fact the lower 48 states of the US were on average a degree Celsius higher than normal.

#ClimateChange is the change in the average weather, not the weather in 1 point at 1 time. I was a farmer. Over 40 years the growing season where my farm was extended 3 weeks. It also went from having enough rain to being too dry. The mid summer temperatures also got too high and caused reduced growth.

You can blow out a candle, but you can't blow out a fire. It's a conflagration now.

Yikes! still running the same hardware they had when I did some contract work to fix some issues 2 decades ago.

Redundancy is the biggest issue. Standard PCs are not properly redundant for 24/7 reliability. We could have given each ATC controller 2 full consoles (primary & backup) if we could have used standard PCs and done it for less cost.

Then there is security. It needs to run on an isolated network with data only links between sites to limit integrity loss if a site is hacked.

When I was a young teen I often went to the discos in NYC. It was legal back then. If I was drunk and stumbling when I left, a cop would call me a cab or drive me home despite the drug dog going ballistic over my clutch. That would have been 100% based on my looks. I sometimes did high fashion modeling, but mostly was a painter, photographer, college student, HS student, and inventor. ...
