   So Oceangate and the US Navy both recorded the sound of the Titan sub imploding on Sunday.

   The company was also aware all electronics on the sub failed simultaneously. James Cameron of all people stated the obvious: that means the vehicle was destroyed instantly.

   Hmm.

   The media, of course, has been spinning this incident as a race against time when everybody involved knew they were dead from the start.

     @gwynnion Which begs the question, if it was known Sunday that the sub was instantly destroyed with 0% chance of survival ... why was all this money spent on a rescue?

     @Eka_FOOF_A The company recorded it from the deployment ship and the Navy detected it through the SOSUS network. The company seems to have sat on their information, however, but as soon as the Navy passed their data to the Coast Guard, they found the wreck in that exact spot.

     @MagentaRocks A search of some kind would have been launched as a matter of course, especially in the case of missing billionaires.

     And while I assumed an implosion from the beginning, for the same reason Cameron did, it seems the company misled people by hiding the fact they heard it.

     Having the sound with no physical evidence - what can be told to the families? They needed to find it.

     Still, if the media were informed, the media is just horrible for reporting through the remaining oxygen countdown. Monstrous.

     Now let all the speculation of what a 5 day confirmation delay means to settling the victim's estates begin.
