@mekkaokereke @craignicol Yep. The meaningful number is How Many Humans on Planet Earth? When it slides below carrying capacity and decent lives, maybe authorities might look at policies.

Policies that can help include access to healthcare and support for reproductive rights. People should be able to choose to have a child or not.

Currently far too many humans aren't getting their needs for water, shelter and food met while a few super wealthy people have too much.

Connected Experiences use your Office content to provide you with editing suggestions, data insights etc

These Connected Experiences are used to train MS's AI. If you choose to turn this off in the MS Word, go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options > Privacy Settings > Uncheck Connected Experiences.

They also allow visitors to eat there although they request not smelly or messy food please. I've been known to spend hours at a library in between other engagements. Free Wifi, comfy furniture, restrooms, and if you have a packed lunch, food too. My local branch Te Awe has a cafe too.

UK Court case finds #Microsoft inadequacies over its #FacialRecognitionTechnology and #UberEats choice of Microsoft app together meant driver racially discriminated against and denied work. "Upgraded" app couldn't recognise driver because of darker skin tone so denied him work. This #racism could happen in any country using these apps.

When a woman is giving birth, the work of a doctor or nurse or midwife is counted but the mother's labour(ing) is ignored because no one has put a dollar value on it.

If a company pollutes waters or land, their sales efforts are "productive" but their destructive harms to the environment don't count.

@iuculano It's pretty hypocritical hearing American people including senators say they don't want the Chinese government to have the power to demand people's data histories and information.

The US Stored Communications Act (for in USA) and the CLOUD Act (for overseas) give the US government power to request and access personal data held by any any US based or owned company. The average American is more at risk from their own government than from the Chinese government!

@siege Most science and maths graduates are familiar with cis as a term for "on same side as". Same with geographers. "Well educated" may not include all subject areas I guess.

Had they kept reading #books by a diverse range of authors they may have had better ideas!!

The Monk and Robot #books by Becky Chamber are great for a better balance. Some of Nnedi Okorafor's books outline alternatives too. Charles Stross has written cautionary tales 😉 Kim Stanley Robinson offered better ideas they could try. #SFF #bookstodon
