@apps is there any way in the Fedilab app to remove notifications (like we can do on the web browser in Mastodon)? There is an option to Mark notifications as read, but they still show there and don't seem to disappear.
@Gargron the way it should be - users have the choice vs just being censored. There are those who have long-lost friends on Threads that they will still be able to follow if they wish.
@evan if you own property or are contributing funds that go to that municipality through rates and taxes, I'd think you should get a vote as you are invested in / funding the municipality. It's not really a simple yes/no type issue though.
@verge wonder how it will support my migrations every 5 or 6 years back to iPhone and then back to Android... I'm still worried about passkeys not following me across all my platforms...
@HistoPol it was not really about patents. It's about using masses of money to gain an unfair advantages, not based at all on the merits of the product or service. How free is it whena super rich company can pay to lobby politicians to favour their businesss over another business who can't afford that. That kills off good free products.
@dansup Beehaw.org's admins also published a post last week moaning about their suggestions for improvement to Lemmy just not being taken up, and that the Lemmy devs are really slow to improve spam management, etc. Beehaw was contemplating forking off from Lemmy, or starting their own network (hopefully ActivityPub I commented).
@dansup I disable notifications sounds for social apps, but allow badge counts to show on the icon. So when I decide to unlock my phone, I can see there are notifications in the app to check, but I don't get invasive alerts.
Once Electric Cars were 38% of those used on US roads
Thomas Edison’s garage in Llewellyn Park has his Detroit Electric Model 47 that is on display there. This is the actual car the Thomas and his wife Mina used about one hundred years ago when electric vehicles were quite popular. Around the turn of the century only 22% of vehicles on the road were gasoline powered, 40% steam and a whopping 38% of all the vehicles on the road were EV’s.
@dansup@pixelfed I would not like to see instance owners just deciding on behalf of their users. Some users may want to connect with friends and family there, and others not. Each should be able to decide and exercise that choice - a bit like a democracy. If I don't follow any Threads accounts, how do they harm, my feed? What I post is public as we don't have walled pay-gardens, and I'm sure they can access it already if they wish.
@dansup I still miss G+ and it's circles and community management - shot this video in Aug 2019 just before it shut down - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2XwoZEzfjY. I remember sitting and refreshing the page until it died...
16-Year-Old Builds His Own Open-Source Cell Phone Based On An ESP32
The phone uses an ESP32 at its core, with a SIM800L GSM modem to interact with the cell network, including retrieving the system time. A small battery is included as well as all of the support circuitry for charging it as well as a USB interface that can comm ...continues
@dansup probably not the reason, but ActivityPub was recently declared a W3C open standard for social networking. I do like that #Nostr is an evolving protocol like XMPP is as well.
@dansup and don't forget #Pixelfed portfolios too. I suppose yes many only see posts and don't understand those other niche features aimed at photos and video specifically.
