I also own and drive a car (while living in a densely populated European city).

It's the system that's broken, not the decisions individuals make in order to make their lives easier within said system. A few people choosing to not own a car doesn't fix the climate, health, safety, or community impact of cars in general.

Clicking a link and not being able to easily interact with the content is kind of annoying, I would bet money that nobody is using the interaction popup and typing their instance domain every time, and even knowing the actual solution (opening your instance and pasting the url into search), it's steps that should very much be automated.

Fedi is full of people who are very concerned with privacy. You know who else Fedi is full of? People looking for good, honest work, and willing to support it financially. Reading and sharing real articles, written by real, independent journalists. Giving resources to making good things happen. These people donate money to keep their Fedi instances running, ad- and tracking-free.
