@hazelnot you give consent when you publicly post something online. In fact, guess what, I can see your profile and whatever you publicly post without even logging in to your instance. How? I use a web browser.
Did you also give your consent to an obscure 3rd party app to display your content inside it? No. Let's just ban them all then, just like Xitter and Reddshit did, or like Meta/Faceshit did in the 1st place.
Oh, it's so great when we have stuff to help us reach content, from friends, from people we follow, but God forbid someone else reaches our content from other parts of the internet. Those that want that are just techbros.
@hazelnot I don't get why people get angry over a freakin' bridge, yet they have no issue with the existence of projects like #BirdsiteLIVE. This is just so entitled. If you don't want to have your content available live on every place, just post it with a different privacy option smh
@jsit It seems photomatt@mastodon.social has added Mastodon under the websites section. For Gravatar to verify you, you need to add it under the verified accounts section (see my example)
@fu social media was somehow engineered to be addicting. That's how they can shove you so many ads on you and get access to as much of your activity as possible.
Here on Friendica you can probably overcome this a bit with editing your theme and/or notifications settings.
@hypolite I mostly keep the tabs open for a bunch of articles that I'm going to eventually read "right away" (despite the fact I also have Pocket). I usually read these articles after a few months or so. Everything else is almost immediately closed after using (although I keep Friendica open sometimes).
Same on desktop, except for Friendica or any other social network.
It basically goes like that:
I open a bunch of articles
They stay open in the 1st 3 tabs or so for later reading the next day because I lack time.
The next day I just lack motivation to read these right away and close these tabs for good, so I waste my time staying on Friendica, in my RSS feed, on YouTube etc.
I might finish what I open in that day, but I have no time reading what I opened the day before, so I leave them for tomorrow.
In case I have no other article open from the previous day, in the third day I do the same as on 3. or hastly read/watch what I opened at 3. if I leave anything open. In rare cases, I read something that I opened at 1. so the number of open tabs is finally reduced.
#Facebook will no longer send #encrypted#emails You used to be able to use your #PGP key in order to have your emails sent by Facebook encrypted. This is one of the features I liked the most about this platform. Now it's turning into another nail in its coffin.
If you know of a group you want to recommend, send me a message.
I have quite some tons of them, so brace yourself 😁
Numbers make no difference, might doesn't mean right. The devs are allowing really awful things to be spread on their servers.
Right, but it seems people are aware of this, which is why the biggest server and the most interesting content seems to be somewhere else (e.g. lemmy.world is the largest Lemmy server out there, which is not owned by any of the Lemmy devs. There is also @piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com which is really active and is created by one of r/piracy's former admins).
There are basically people that had no prior link with none of the main devs, nor they do support their views, yet they just wanted to find a better, more reliable refuge after the whole u/spez saga, and Lemmy happened to be the most reliable for them.
Again, I respect your opinion, but if you'll want to reconsider your choice in the future, that would be much appreciated as well. 😁
Is there a way I can suggest a few groups to the list? I've come to a point where I'm following groups all across the Fediverse 😁
I understood your stance on Lemmy, and I share the same opinion about the Lemmy devs and their 2 servers, having 1st hand experience with one of them. However, currently, Lemmy is the second platform in the Fediverse in number of active users after Mastodon.
@z428 Completely true. Friendica specific features seem to be ignored by all the apps I've encountered, while the web front is just fantastic - even on mobile. The only app I see trying to respect the feature choice is #Friendiqa but it's development is a bit slow.
and dealing with apps can be a drain to ones time even greater than different Fediverse accounts in itself
Indeed it is. There are little reasons for using apps for online services that work well enough inside a web browser. We've just gotten used to corporations pushing us towards their walled gardens.
@noam Perhaps you can use the content filter to filter out hashtags (they will be colapsed afaik). Go to Settings > Addons > Content filter (NSFW and more) and add the terms.
It says there Use /expression/ to provide regular expressions, #tag to specfically match hashtags (case-insensitive), or regular words (case-sensitive) - so I guess it should do the trick (I haven't tested against hashtags myself so far).
