   @fu The centralized corporate socnets do research on how to make it addicting. As for Fediverse / Nostr / Diaspora / Bluesky / FarCaster etc I don't know.
   
   As for e-mail, even with spam filtering, the majority are not things I want to see.

     @fu social media was somehow engineered to be addicting. That's how they can shove you so many ads on you and get access to as much of your activity as possible.

     Here on Friendica you can probably overcome this a bit with editing your theme and/or notifications settings.
