clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 13:39:21 JST clacke Is there an election newscast somewhere in Europe that looks at the EU as a whole? On ARTE or something? -

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 13:39:22 JST clacke If it looks like the show will move over to discussing the various finalized results across the EU, I'll watch it all, but that doesn't seem to be happening. -

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 13:39:23 JST clacke YES. Preliminary results (exit poll) looking far better than feared.
I won't watch the full 5 h, after the exit poll they will have two hours of analysis and discussion that will be mostly filler, as no final results were yet available.
Time to take a break and go move the last items out of the old home, then I'll watch the last two hours, when the final results were presented and discussed.

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 13:39:25 JST clacke Why are they correspondents at the different parties experiencing audio feedback?
Oh right, just at the time of presenting the exit poll, of course all the parties are watching SVT on the big screen. 😃

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 13:54:22 JST clacke SD representative talking about how their underwhelming result might be the result of psyops is hilarious, when the biggest psyops is the support Russian troll factories are giving to parties like SD. -

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 19:52:13 JST clacke Denmark has several new parties that I need to catch up on.
Very nice to see the far right retreat in Sweden's and Finland's representation ... and then you look at Germany and France and despair. 😥

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 10-Jun-2024 19:52:14 JST clacke I'm not up to date on what the People's List party in Sweden wants either. They didn't get in, but it's interesting that they were founded by a former Christian Democrat and youth wing chair campaigning on cannabis legalization, and a former Social Democrat and reality TV star. -

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 00:03:44 JST clacke Nationalist Fidesz in Hungary loses ground and loses their own absolute majority, and that sounds nice, but then you look at who took the most of those votes, and that's TISZA, whose most famous name is a guy who was in Fidesz until this year.
Looking at the party ideology and program, it does look like progress. They want to reduce strongman rule and corruption, improve accountability, improve rule of law, cooperate with EU institutions, etc.
I haven't looked into where Péter Magyar stands personally, and why he was in Fidesz.

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 00:03:45 JST clacke It sounds like the overall analysis is that the representation of most countries moved a bit left, but because Germany and France are so dominant and moved so hard right, the total is still a move a bit to the right. -
