the reaction to non-japanese bowing depends on the person. the most negative impression may be a sense of being mocked. that is uncommon fortunately.

i think non-japanese might simply nod instead of bow, at least at first.

it is not a problem to ask someone for advice, but not a random stranger, of course.

@freemo i have heard of it sometimes happening but i think that people will mostly not say anything, or perhaps may offer recommendation on the appropriate way for a situation. fortunately, proper etiquette is not expected of non-japanese.

@zens @mhoye there were corded remotes before this. they usually would only change the channel via a single button or a two-way rocker switch which activated a motor which stopped the tuner barrel at preset positions, much like this ultrasonic remote and only for VHF channels. the cord would twist and tangle, and was easily damaged, unless one were very careful. very convenient but also very inconvenient. a very expensive luxury back then.

@youronlyone I almost got fired for being "too good--you're making everyone look bad." Got a written warning about it too. Twice.

@youronlyone I tried keep records, etc., but I did not persist. I was pretty dumb and naive. The politics and the propaganda differed and I chose to go along with the propaganda. It took me a long time to even realise the politics part and what was actually going on.

Interestingly, I run back and forth doing multiple tasks at the same time, get them all completed, while the complainer takes his time to do a single task all shift and then complains about having to work so hard. ? ?♀️ :akko_aaa:

I would take burnout days off if I were still employed.

And get laid off again when someone calls the boss and throws a gigantic man-tantrum about being overwhelmed by "all the extra work" they have to do as a result, when they hardly do anything at all.

And while they take the same number of days off in retaliation, leaving me to get everything done (which I do without complaint) in one shift, I start to burn out again, but faster.
