@zens @mhoye there were corded remotes before this. they usually would only change the channel via a single button or a two-way rocker switch which activated a motor which stopped the tuner barrel at preset positions, much like this ultrasonic remote and only for VHF channels. the cord would twist and tangle, and was easily damaged, unless one were very careful. very convenient but also very inconvenient. a very expensive luxury back then.
