Activist: "I'm going to withhold my vote for trans equality, minority voting rights, fighting climate change, and safe public drinking water over something we both can agree Kamala Harris doesn't have the power to do anything about for nearly half a year!"
Me: "Cool. I'm going to nailgun my penis to a doorknob and see what happens. Your kink is not my kink, and sounds weird, privileged and sketchy, but that's okay."
If, as the experts say, Pennsylvania is the most important state for either side to win in the national election, due to its 19 electoral votes, then having both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh in the top markets for Biden's speech is VERY good news.
It suggests that a lot of Pennsylvanians are chomping at the bit to be active in this election.
#mastodon#hivemind question: Anyone know why someone's posts may be flooding my feed today, with posts from many hours to several days old, drowning out other posts? Is there any work around to these kinds of issues?
In an interview from 2020, JD Vance agrees with a podcast host who says having grandmothers help raise children is “the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female.”
Sounds weird, creepy and REALLY sexist.
Pretty sure JD Vance can't give birth. So, why does he burden us with his completely pointless existence?!
In 2016 after the DNC, the Clinton campaign office opened in S.F., near my home. I walked there after the DNC, to find one of only three hired staffers in the whole state, and two interns. Things ramped up rapidly from there, helping turn NV blue, but more could've been done with an early start.
Early $$ = early staffing, early volunteer training, early phone banks, early, preferentially priced ad buys, early fundraising...
@HistoPol@Free_Press It is a spin-off from Iannucci's BBC Television series *The Thick of It* (2005–12), and satirises British-American politics, in particular the invasion of Iraq.
The exit polls in Venezuela said Maduro lost by a nearly 2-1 margin.
I'm beginning to think they had a point, because this certainly looks like the end for Maduro.
Perhaps Maduro's supporters were disproportionately in the rural regions..?! Doesn't look like they're in Caracas though. Military and police are takin' the day off!
If you are on #reddit as well, I may have posted this... Please do like and boost, if you can! #MastodonForHarris
For those who support #democrats , #KamalaHarris AND #mastodon , now is a GREAT time to spread a really good story about all three, in order to boost Mastodon's profile and level of attention, ideally making it a very attractive place for politicians, progressives and activists to create accounts, share content and organize!
@kravietz@shuro@HistoPol Indeed. And it needs to stop. It's more polluting than burning coal, and it's a major contributor to poor air quality, childhood asthma, etc.
It reliably, statistically leads to rather large amounts of death and human suffering, and would be an ethical thing to put an end to, even if it wasn't contributing to climate change.
One of the most important aspects of what I share re: Ukraine, is not overly focusing on the horrors or losses of land, but talking of resilience and victory.
My grandfather told me of living in London during the Blitz, where one building in three was destroyed in under a year. This is not that.
So, I say to Ukrainians: as bad as things are, if you keep fighting, the Russians will inevitably leave Ukraine, and you will undoubtedly win, with your cities intact. Everything will be alright.
If you don't want your data shared with Bluesky - and then used by them as they see fit - please take a min. to email Ryan Barnett ( public@ryanb.org )
Ryan didn't make it easy to find his email address, but I'm sharing it, knowing it was his intent to be contacted by all of us. A LOT. Otherwise, he would have made his bridge opt-in.
And Ryan? If you have a problem with me sharing your email address and blasting it across the Fediverse, please let me know if you'd like to opt out. Thanks!
