Actually I just got the desktop notification again. It is ridiculous:

"Pending update of "firefox" snap. Close the app to avoid disruptions (12 days left)"

WTF are you trying to say, Ubuntu? Of course closing the app doesn't trigger the update, so I will RTFM later today how to get rid of this annoyance, or reinstall FF with apt this time. @lutindiscret sent a good guide of doing that quickly enough ?

They are designed to "snap" you to awareness that you don't need Snap.

Tip:

Supermarkets are hypercapitalists. Hence, the inflation is an opportunity to exploit you. People aren't used to the new prices, and therefore they can raised more than rate of inflation, sometimes even double or triple the rate.

#Inkscape on my #Unbuntu 22.04 has this bug where right-click on a #SVG file and "Open With" Inkscape does nothing at all.

So looking in their #Gitlab for open issues I find one issue but specific to MacOS. There are 15 other issues linked.. which brings me to the topic of this toot.

How is the Gitlab UI that only shows an issue number on these links, but not the title, in any way, shape or form a desirable UX pattern? Am I supposed to hover my mouse 1-by-1 over each link to gauge relevance?

Why does text change color, if I just change the font? Where have the color settings moved to?

First confronted with an updated #Inkscape on my new laptop.

Gazillion UI differences, and I'm sure they make sense and people love them.

For me, it is like an entirely new program I have to learn. A quick #SVG edit becomes a major relearning experience. How do I get these tool panels back? Why are they tabs now that don't fit the right sidebar? How do I get them to slide vertically accordion-wise like they did before? Etcetera.

@bob yes, it is not new, but it is getting better. In the FILM vid they show some comparisons to other existing AI. It is more the quality improvement that might make it ready for market (if they didn't cherry-pick these too).

As for Stable Diffusion, I agree. But here the fact its OSS might mean there'll be broad adoption and variations. Stuff is going rapidly in #AI fields.

With image generation AI's tumbling over each other towards the market, and open-source variants emerging (e.g. #StableDiffusion), I just found #FILM which given a couple (AI-generated) frames interpolates and creates the missing frames inbetween.

Currently situation still screwed. Results on various clients (excluding around 45 DM rooms):

- Old laptop, web UI: 10 favorited, 38 non-favorite, public rooms --> this is what it should be.

- New laptop, web UI: 0 favorited, 5 public rooms.

- Android Element: 10 favorited, 30 public rooms (briefly dropped to 7 rooms).

- Android FluffyChat: 5 favorited, 31 public rooms.

Ah, "false chanterelles" is a species name. I thought it meant a false match in general. Can't remember which country Gordon was in when this happened. Can't find video either.

The other issue is that art and culture are a form of discourse. An artist or writer building on their influences is participating in a discussion that helps shape society.

'AI'-generated art at scale risks becoming DOS attack on that discourse
It's fairly easy, for example, to imagine an authoritarian government using these methods to daily bombard every citizen with personalised pro-government propaganda.

Not everyone has the same intent. Some people post all of their stuff publicly (like me). Others are more private.

Some want to be competitive (like me). Others just want to encourage one another and talk about gear ?
