@dachary and @realaravinth are involved with that.

Umm, I don't know how I get a non-404 direct link to that toot from masto UI, or at all. But it said:
> I'm loving the #GoToSocial experience! It doesn't break, I rarely feel its presence and upgrades are stupid easy.

Young project, still early days, but raving reviews, like: https://gts.batsense.net/@realaravinth/statuses/01GBT7N72W2TE2KV4AS4TAD1H2

But I *really* miss search on #Gitea / #Codeberg (unless the feature exists in a place I haven't discovered yet).

smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) (humanetech@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 01-Sep-2022 05:43:55 JST smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) Why do both #Github and #Gitlab have such hard to remember advanced search query language?
And why do quotes not work to look for exact strings?
At least GH has an "Advanced" screen where can set individual filter types. Did not find that on GL, which imho has less intuitive UX all over the place. May be that practice makes perfect ?♂️

Really? Can't even search for open issues with 2 text keywords?

If you had trouble with missing rooms in #Element-Web then I have good news.
The Element team has been really busy with creating a fix, even working on Sunday. It was #security issue, as explained in a blog post that was just published.
You should update your Element client asap.
https://element.io/blog/element-web-desktop-1-11-4-a-security-update-deferred-dms-and-more/
(I have some more things to check, as #Android mobile apps of Element and #FluffyChat also displayed the wrong number of rooms, but #Firefox is a go)

smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) (humanetech@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 01-Sep-2022 03:52:12 JST smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) Oh wow. I had this 'flickering screen' issue on my brand new laptop with #Ubuntu 22.04 and thought I had found the bug describing it (which involved adding magical processor config to Grub as a workaround).
Except that their described flickering was much worse than what I experience.
I just now notice that it is the Brightness dial going up and down by itself. Yea, the UI slider is actually moving by itself like the crazy compass on The Flying Dutchman.

Wow, that is a scare :(
I use Firefox Sync, which I guess is a help to get bookmarks and history and all that jazz synchronised across installations.

I hope this was a one-off nasty surprise, and not related to my new Ubuntu 22.04 and the thing living inside a snap. which is bitching about an update.

smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) (humanetech@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 01-Sep-2022 03:47:40 JST smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) @teledyn I just got exposed to both #snap and #flatpak and both don't leave a good impression.
With flatpak that may be because #Ubuntu doesn't like them as a competitor, or something went wrong in the install. But apps installed weren't added to Applications in the UI and should be started from CLI with non-intuitive flatpak names.
Anyway after a clean install adventure with countless shit, I decided I won't get my elderly parents from Windows to Linux. It is not for them.

smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) (humanetech@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 01-Sep-2022 03:47:31 JST smallcircles (Humane Tech Now) On Ubuntu the Snaps feel like crammed in.
Like for Firefox I get nagged by notification: "Snap needs to upgrad in 13 days, close program then" or something. Clicking the notification doesn't bring you to upgrade screen.
Then navigating to Applications, Firefox in list is marked "installed", but on clicking the entry it says "Install", no indication it is already there.
Since Flatpak aren't Ubuntu's experience may be even worse.
