But I think that FB/Meta's strategy was rather smarter than most people give it credit.

This is just a hunch of mine, but I think that FB didn't have this crystalised vision of where they wanted to go with Metaverse.

But by hyping the buzzword they primed the market, and now they can develop and meanwhile look around what others are doing. Upcoming players they can buy-out, acquire them. They don't do innovation themselves. The Big Techz aren't all that innovative anymore.

Though I am not following it at all, I have the feeling that the mere name-dropping of a 'big vision' by the Zuck has unleashed a frantic activity in the market where many companies are rushing in to be early adopters and stake their claim shoud there be any real uptake in the future.

I've seen quite a few corporations spending big on Metaverse ads for instance, where they announce techz they are working on.

Of course it may all just fail and be vapourware.

@xarvos @humanetech @r3vlibre yeah, I'm seeing that it isn't mature yet. I'm testing other niche options but if nothing works I might just go with Pleroma.

In a conversation with @humanetech, the connection between us and ActivityPub (AP)/the fediverse came up. Here is a brief statement on that:

Interpeer's vessel container format is suitable for arbitrary content sections. ActivityStreams (AS) Objects fit nicely into that concept. With Interpeer's wyrd, we can even offer modification capabilities beyond those AS offers.

Interpeer's upcoming hubur protocol (nothing to see yet) maps relatively well onto AP. Therefore, a bridge seems feasible.

I will continue to be a tireless #Fediverse advocate, just in slightly different ways than before. It has been my pleasure interacting on the forum, and maybe I'll be back as mod if people's interest and activity picks up again to make it more than what it currently is.

I guess it is used by a small cycling group in the Czech Repulic.
But the code was never released.

I am no expert in extensible API design, but maybe things can be sliced in such way that additional extensions can be facilitated more easily without that leading to a 'fork in the road'.

As @ls is saying on the thread fork, the choice was made to support the Mastodon API. If you see it in that light, then adhering to the quirks and pace set by #Mastodon seems like the logical consequence of that choice.

Alternatively you might say, we no longer do that, take Mastodon API as a starting point, and develop a Fediverse API that can facilitate all the ways where apps match as well as where they diverge. Then it is Mastodon's choice if they will follow that.

So, I wouldn't place it in that category. They are a big corporation that directly competes against #Github, and could easily have a dedicated team of 10 or more #UX designers (maybe they have).

I am not sure if this fix also affects the #Android clients. I installed #Element and #FluffyChat from #FDroid too.

Here the rooms issue is different. The #Element app misses 8 of the rooms I'm in. I just discovered that pressing the upside-down antenna icon on the right in the toolbar (don't know what this is named) shows me an unsorted list that has missing rooms in them.

The #ForgeFed room on #Libera chat is one of those missing on Rooms tab
