   Why do both #Github and #Gitlab have such hard to remember advanced search query language?

   And why do quotes not work to look for exact strings?

   At least GH has an "Advanced" screen where can set individual filter types. Did not find that on GL, which imho has less intuitive UX all over the place. May be that practice makes perfect ?♂️

     But I *really* miss search on #Gitea / #Codeberg (unless the feature exists in a place I haven't discovered yet).

     Well.. #Gitlab from #Wikipedia in 2021:

     - Traded as: Nasdaq GTLB
     - Revenue: $252.7 million
     - Total assets: $1.09 billion
     - Employees: 1630

     So, I wouldn't place it in that category. They are a big corporation that directly competes against #Github, and could easily have a dedicated team of 10 or more #UX designers (maybe they have).

     @humanetech Maybe gitlab is still mostly free software and the smaller solution while github is full proprietary and has all the Microsoft UX'ers behind it these days?

     (this is a question about quality, so I’m wary about asking the same of free software and proprietary)
