    The more of these efforts drop off the edge - the more it becomes obvious that the Rule of Law is dead in the USA, and th judges are political activists.

    There will be a reckoning when all the outcome of 2020 and 2022 court cases and their results are compiled.

    It will show who are the political activists in our court systems. At least that much is inevitable, that cannot be escaped by these corrupt and anti-Constitution activists.

    Well, I was not talking about the AI eliminating poverty and stupidity.

    In the industrial sectors the AI going behave in a predictable and repeatable manner, as all automation should, and it will not create social upheaval.

    Which is interesting, if you think about it. The hobbyists and the pros in robotics are the least romantic about the AI, they are ready to send it to space and not bring it back.

    Its the "humanists" who are romancing the AI, as a bride with death due us part and nonsense. It is the "humanists" going to decide when the AI is "good enough" to marry.

    My engineering race has no such issues, the AI was "good enough" from day one, for any purpose that was functional, predictable and repeatable.

    I use FreeCAD and OpenSCAD to design around existing COTS such as PVC pipes, hardware cloth, steel plates and such. I use more COTS to join and strengthen the segments such as fencing wire or even mortars and cement. I experiment with building caterpillar tracks and conveyors, to collect and optimize CAD data about them.

    In decade or so, just before I retire, I am going to create a local maker association, where we sell the contraptions we build, and use the funds to build and maintain a local "data center".

    Its a plan which is not entirely terrible. Thanks for asking.

    I see something entirely different.

    "mass production" is a benefit to an Industrial Civiliation, which is Humanity.

    Its not too difficult to see how "mass production" drove a higher rate of employment.

    A cheap, "good enough" AI is no difference. I work in manufacturing for over 30 years, I 3D print and I am learning to use the AI to help me create my models faster. I hope soon I can do far more, focusing on the interesting parts while the AI does the boring parts.

    Nothing is different from what is happening in the last 200 years.

    Apparently you do not see that most "conspiracy theories" are valid suspicion - such as stealing elections, hiding facts, and creating public unrest.

    I suspect you cannot read, you cannot think rationally, and that's also not a conspiracy theory. Millions of people lost their ability to think and behave in a rational manner.

    Yes, I have been using it to create MySQL INSERT OR UPDATE statements which I actually needed at my job. Its actually very useful to create the data tables, joins, views from the text description - which is the documentation of the database. I always wrote the docs afterwards, now I write them before, the way it should be.

    My job involves scrubbing PCB parts and assemblies against all sort of demands and regulations - I see a huge jump in my future productivity thanks to the AI.

    The AI is going to be revolutionary, no doubt. One thing I'm already certain about is that you will be working overtime on your composition and reading comprehension.

    Your capacity to ask the AI as precisely as you can will become one of your most critical skills.

    Surpassed only by your fundamental understanding of your problem domain. For example, when the AI says "future improvements" you need to immediately filter that by scenarios, where those "improvements" are quantified by basic algebra.

    Do not trust the AI when it comes to battery technologies. While it admits that at the extremes e=mc^2 falls off the edges it does not admit the same v=ir - try it. Its fascinating, it truly insist that internal resistance can evolve to zero without falling off the edges.

    100% in agreement on that, sorry for missing your point.

    The Unions, the Corporations, even our own bastard Federal Government made entrepreneurship practically impossible. This COVID nonsense genocides most small business, and there is more to come, it will never stop.

    There are opportunities tough, although I only see what's in the manufacturing sector. I just played around with ChatGPT, and I see it can write decent DHTML for simple things like cascading drop-downs, parse JSON, calculate CRC and such. It still truly sucks at OpenSCAD though, but I will keep on eye on it.
