      The importance of anonymity when doing antifascist / anti-racist / anarchist research, publishing and direct action cannot be overstated. The state wants to cage us; the right wants to harass us; certain fascists and neo-nazis want to murder us. There are cases where security theater inhibits organizing, but as a default operational security posture we should guard ourselves, our work, our comrades and our loved ones with fierce intention. In order to be most effective, we must be deliberate. Every life taken, every comrade behind bars, every person terrified into stepping back from their work... this is a blow to our communities and purpose.     @greenpx @Nirty_Digger @Tactical @n8 Joining the Corps was good for me, I needed it. The war was stupid and not in our interests, and the government never gave a fuck about us personally (but most of us knew that before the end of boot, if not before signing). And I would not now allow a person I care about to join. I would physically restrain them if in a position to do so. Doesn't matter what branch, doesn't matter what MOS, doesn't matter why. It's like elective life destruction at this point.

    @LorgarAurelian1488 @SuperLutheran @hammerswinger @anti-climacus I dislike karambit blase shape and folders for self defense. The most effective thing you can do with a knife is thrust/stab, which a hawkbill profile makes less effective. And folders are folded, which is something that can go wrong if you're e.g. pulling it with your off hand while your strong side is halfway into a triangle choke.

    I do like the finger ring, as it lets me use the hand for e.g. reloading a pistol without dropping the knife. I run one of these. 3" and nasty.

    @SuperLutheran @hammerswinger @anti-climacus Having been in my share of altercations without a referee, it's really helpful to be able to put someone on the ground when you choose, and to stay off the ground when you don't want to be there. Wrestling and judo are great for that. Striking, it's good to have a base so that you don't get ktfo, but having done both I think you're better off with advanced grappling/throwing and basic striking than the reverse. Six months of boxing puts you at dangerous to the untrained, six months of grappling puts you at just barely above untrained.

    @parker @WretchedFetch @Godcast If you're in the suburbs, you're going to get an HOA, shitty neighbors, and the city and/or county government coming down on you. Further out, you're probably ok if you're just providing for yourself, but if you start to trade any of it and the ag people get wind, they're going to come down hard on you like they did the Amish who were butchering meat without an FDA hand up their ass.
