I cannot believe that Stanford admins - and faculty - are so wildly stupid as to allow this.
Don’t take bribes from Thiel and Koch and other hard right billionaires. We must reject this totally. It’s not hard. Or this will end in disaster.

Stanford is holding a COVID conference with an editor of the Epoch Times. 😡
Shocking. It doesn’t get worse than this. The Epoch Times aims to DESTROY Stanford. Rightwing billionaires bribe universities to hold these.
Scientists must stop this, now.

Let’s lay this out.
The Epoch Times and the Hoover billionaires behind this don’t care about COVID.
Their mission is to destroy US universities. Why? Because universities are an indep source of truth that can restrain billionaires.
Being anti-Trump doesn’t keep someone who is pro-Project 2025 fm being a hack and an extremist.
Project 2025 is a fascist plan to sink America. Russell likes it. She’s a hack.
God, “serious conservatives” are so lost today. They and their movement are totally broken.
Then: “US Jews are beginning the process of disengaging from Israel. That’s good. We need to move faster. We’re Americans, and Israel is just a different country.”
I’d put it as:
We can all *right now* reject Likud, as I said here in the spring:
This is an extremely strong statement.
“Dual loyalty isn’t an antisemitic trope, it’s what we’re taught!
It’s wrong but it’s on us.”
Wow.

I’ve been saying for nearly a decade Democratic elites should run on “Donald Trump only cares about himself and his billionaire friends…”
and she just said it!
“The [New York] Times is engaged in intense internal conversations about how to distance itself from the [left] and avoid being seen as a mouthpiece of the Democratic Party.”
Let’s be clear.
NYT is doing this to maximize its profits.

“We Go High” today is good for rich, comfortable people like Jake Tapper who pretend America is not in danger because they like their lives.
But change is needed.
“When they go low, we make fun of them.”
Too often professionals and the highly educated just blithely consume information without asking where it comes from and how it got there.
The wrong tampon story gained traction on Twitter so liberals can see it, due to an organized right wing disinfo campaign.
Appreciate this explainer from a law prof.
But I want to note one related point: it says this “wrong” story “gained traction on [Twitter]”
But Twitter has been *intentionally tilted* to allow wrong stories like this to gain traction. It’s not organic!
Which involves the right but not just the right. Also Musk. And Laura Loomer.
The US right knows their policies are unpopular, and they know they need disinformation to gain power. It’s why Thiel told Musk to buy Twitter and why Thiel funds Vance too. It’s coordinated. /end
This is good messaging.
Media ownership matters.
It’s not just reporters, it’s not just the faces you see. Media execs matter as much if not more.
The pro-Trump media exec is John C Malone, who played a big role in the WBD merger and now has large influence on the board. Malone got his protege David Zaslav - another pro-Trump conservative - hired in a top role.
And Zaslav fired liberals and hired rightwingers.
As we watch CNN boost the idea that Kamala is not Black, it would be good if we all talked anoit how it was a bad idea to let a conservative pro-Trump media exec effectively buy and take over CNN, fire liberals, and hire conservative journalists and execs.
"Elon Musk’s Plan to Put a Million Earthlings on Mars in 20 Years... Mr. Musk has volunteered his sperm."
Parts of the New York Times are great. Some journalists are great.
But this is not ...a serious newspaper.
Fetterman’s aides clearly get this- they get that people are wondering about which epistemic circles he is in.
“ his communications director, Carrie Adams, seeing that we were talking past each other, prompted him. “And meetings with experts, not just news outlets”
“ In a recent Times story, an ex-aide had attributed his political turn to an increasing diet of conservative news media.…”
On epistemic circles.
The excellent Fetterman profile in the New Yorker contains a strong subtext about epistemic circles — that is, what information does Fetterman seek out, and where does he get information from?
