The war was stupid and not in our interests, and the government never gave a fuck about us personally (but most of us knew that before the end of boot, if not before signing). And I would not now allow a person I care about to join. I would physically restrain them if in a position to do so. Doesn't matter what branch, doesn't matter what MOS, doesn't matter why. It's like elective life destruction at this point.

     @Nirty_Digger @Tactical @n8 I was being eh.... groomed for military service from a young age, bc my family has a long history of service. Earliest we know for sure is civil war, and then one in basically every war since, and all inbetween. But when i got to that age i was like, nah fuck that. And i regretted it for a long time. But now i dont. I know it probably dont mean much coming from a civvy but i genuinely feel for /our guys/ who served, just to have this country shit on them so hard.

     @n8 I was considering joining the army a couple of weeks ago after being gaslighted by older folk, and I've heard nothing but horror stories about the army by anyone who's remotely gone into it.

     I was tempted to make a bet with my family, have everyone toss in some money and whoever gets a job interview first wins. They'd have to use no connections, ONLY get it through the internet, and use a generic sample from one of us as the resume

     @n8 @EdBoatConnoisseur It's hard to describe how desperate I felt a couple of weeks ago and how heavily gaslighted I was, but I lost any illusion of even wanting to join once my family not only were non-military who wanted me to join, they wanted me to learn from a recruiter
     
     which to me at least, seems like a fantastic way of getting fucking conned

     @EdBoatConnoisseur @Argyrus @CasperDoogan @Tactical @n8 LinkedIn is good for networking with recruiters, though many of them suck. You'll have to eat some shit until you find a good one. Depending on the industry these people are hungry to hire you.
     
     Not to mention if you have any particular company in mind, you can literally go message their active employees who might be in a position to hire. Think like managers of whatever industry you're in.
