i'm sure if we'd just gone with LaTeX instead of HTML, it would all be fine. :D
at least subscripts/superscripts/fractions would all display correctly.

more and more as i try to help my mom deal with all the "new features" in her computer and phone that don't work for anyone with any sight, eye/hand, or skin chemistry issues, i'm back to this:
'no developer of any device software/OS that human beings use is allowed to touch a single line of code until they have spent 6 months doing user support at an assisted care facility'
something filtering ICMPv6 and PMTU not working?
different packet size/MTU by default
just one guess. i have seen it.
at least give them some tools to recognize when they might need to watch their backs, as well as some tools for how to manage up when you don't have a great boss.
you are giving them good memories so that after they live through some abusive managers and progress to when they manage, they will know how to do things better.
eugenics/racial genocide automation
it's way easier to understand than cricket and at least it's only 60 minutes of game play. :D

we need a slew of changes. ditch the electoral college. major campaign finance reform. mandatory consistent federal term limits (the same for all states), ditching of the current congressional seniority system for committee assignment, federal oversight (and enforcement!) of voting districts, federal standards for the algorithms used for said voting districts.
way too many thumbs on the scale now and no calibration authority to counteract it.
the best part of the block button is how eager folks are to show that they deserve it. :D
there are automation/ease advantages in having your cloud provider be your DNS provider.
it does lock you into their automation and any stupid DNS tricks that aren't RFC standards but do "work" in that environment.
robustness/resiliency does suffer a bit, in that you have both DNS and hosting fail with a provider failure. web browsers and apps will give a different user experience/error if you can resolve the DNS name but be unable to get a working IP connection vs having DNS just SERVFAIL.
i do see more web/app folks that don't really understand DNS at all go for this all-in-one and who don't always understand what tradeoffs they are then living with.
jews have always understood that if anyone is persecuted, they'll be in line at some point; that if anyone is persecuted, everyone is in danger. that doesn't diminish the bravery. many folks see things they know are wrong and unjust, yet do nothing.
the day that my morning coffee is delayed because my kettle wants to do a firmware update is the day i go on a complete rampage...
this is just wrong in every way.
i've heard of hazing rituals but this borders more on geneva convention violation...
history may be written by the victor, but truth can be dug out with research. ;)
i'd put the reagan years, newt, etc. as the start of regression this cycle. 9/11 was the excuse for heavy clamp downs on things other than just taxes/govt spending that started with regan. it sure feels like a pretty steady eroding of social progressiveness wins of the 60s-late 80s. TFG/MAGA let those folks feel empowered to say aloud what they'd been pushing for since reagan (and the civil war...).
one of the other things i think reagan did was normalize the fantasy of the 50s that never was, the stepford wives dream instead of the american dream. even blue collar MAGA seem to be buying into a past that never was.
one of the charms of places like NYC, London, etc. is that you can walk down the street and hear dozens of languages. you can find an overwhelming variety of foods, see a huge array of different clothing. always puzzles me, the people that find this threatening and not fascinating.
if they put this at the checkout stand, i'd just assume it meant they understaffed registers, like usual. ;)
suspect you mean the 29 Mar 1976 cover. the copy i found is very heavily copyright limited on use but shows Manhattan, 9th ave, 10th ave, Hudson River, then a very narrow brown strip of bare earth, then the Pacific ocean. sums it up pretty well. ;)
Just trying to spread the good word about IPv6. Member of an obscure technical group on the internet. Still remember when it was all the ARPANET.
